Home description
This family owned studio apartment completed late 2005 is comfortably furnished and well equipped. There is a spacious private ski locker in the basement, so no need to drag your gear and boots upstairs and the very close proximity to the gondola means you can easily be first on the slopes without having to roll out of bed at the crack of dawn. The old town a short walk down the hill has a unique ambience and excellent mehanas (pub/restaurants) which we have enjoyed during both Summer & Winter visits. The skiing is good and the new golf course should make summer visits even more enjoyable.

The Pirin/Rhodope Mountains region
Bansko (Bulgarian: Банско) is a town in southwestern Bulgaria, located at the foot of the Pirin Mountains at an altitude of 1936m above sea level. It is considered to be one of the most developed Ski and Winter Resorts in Eastern Europe.
Rila Monastery, Pirin National Park, Bansko Ski Resort
Bansko area
A short drive from Rila Monastery, the picturesque old town also has a number of interesting sights contained within it. It also lies on the edge of Pirin National Park, allowing access to some beautiful walking and trekking country.
Bansko, once mainly a stockbreeding and travelling merchant community, has nowadays become a centre of winter and summer tourism. The mountain peaks near the town, the numerous lakes and the old pine woods make it a popular site for recreation. In recent years, the town has gained international popularity after the start of the annual Bansko Jazz Festival. The nearby village of Banya, located only 5 km from the town, is known for its 27 thermal mineral springs.
How to get there
The closest airport is Sofia. Plovdiv airport is also within easy travelling distance. Easyjet, British Airways and Balkan Airways, amongst others, all fly to these airports. Airport transfers can be arranged but car hire and/or taxis are cheap.
