Home description
This is an excellent penthouse apartment, beautifully furnished to engender a sense of luxury and relaxation. The facilities are first rate, including gymnasium, sauna, indoor heated pool with wide water jet and jacuzzi. There are 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The master bedroom is en suite and has a double bed. The bedroom has direct access to the balcony, with a view of the Gondola station and Bansko old Town. The second bedroom has a double and a single bed, again with access directly onto the balcony.
The kitchen is fully fitted, with cooker, microwave and Fridge. There is also coffee maker, toaster and sandwich maker. The dining area seats 6. The lounge has a leather finished sofa bed and sofa chair if required. Cable TV is available, together with internet access for pc connection.

The Pirin/Rhodope Mountains region
Nestled between the Pirin, Rila and Rhodope mountain ranges, Bansko is located at the foot of the Pirin National Park, listed in the World Register of Natural Heritage. It is a climatic mountain resort with a short hot summer and long mild winter. Snow falls are abundant, providing a constant winter snow cover up to 2 m thick. The region is famous for its cuisine and colourful folklore and offers various entertainment opportunities. The access to Bansko is convenient even in winter conditions.
The ski resort has had extensive investment over recent years, and offers great skiing, in particular for intermediate and beginner levels. The ski school has a good reputation, with english speaking instructors. Snowboarding instruction is also available.
Walking routes are well marked. We recommend using one of the local guiding firms for the first walk. There are literally thousands of lakes in the lower hills and the scenery is breathtaking. Horse riding is available in nearby Razlog.
The Rila Monastery is accessible from Bansko, for a day off from skiing and taking in a little history and culture.
Mountain bikes and guides are available for hire in Bansko.
Bansko area
Bansko was originally a small rural village, which maintains the charm of traditional Bulagrian culture and heritage whilst at the same time provides some of the best ski runs around. By contrast, the Gondola and snow machines, together with moguls for boarders is state of the art. There are 14 ski runs in Bansko, mainly for beginner and intermediate skiiers.
From personal experience, the ski schools are great for complete novices to learn and develop those skiing skills, and the kindergarten provision for children is excellent.
Bansko old town has many Mexhanas - these are traditional restaurants offering a wide range of bulgarian dishes. In addition, there are restaurants serving international food and pizzerias too. Prices in Bansko are still extremely reasonable.
How to get there
Fly to Sofia Airport and take a taxi to Bansko (approximately 2.5 - 3 hours). This will cost approximately £60. Car hire can be arranged at the airport when you arrive. Hertz, Avis & sixT are represented.
The owner can arrange transport from and to airports as required. This must be notified 14 days prior to travel.
