The Pirin/Rhodope Mountains region
The Pirin and Rila mountains of Bulgaria are the two highest ranges of mountains in this beautiful and mountainous country.
In 1962 part of the mountain was proclaimed as a national park, UNESCO included it in the World Register of Natural Heritage.
The Pirin National Park is home to the largest population of Brown Bear in the Balkan region. It offers some of the finest walking in Europe with plenty of wildlife auch as golden eagle, wild boar and Pine Martin.
Bansko area
Surrounded by the Pirin, Rila and Rhodope Mountains you can understand why Bansko has been subject to a multi million euro investment into its skiing facilities.
The ski season lasts for five months making the resort first choice for many skiers.
