Bansko and the surrounding area offers a great holiday experience at any time of the year. There is of course great skiing and snowboarding in the winter months, with over 70km of marked pistes and tuition that is second to none. There are also many attractions that make the area irresistible as a holiday destination at other times of the year, such as walking in the surrounding Unesco listed national Park, cultural festivals, adventure and sporting activities.
Pirin Lodge offers modern and luxurious interiors that have been masterly crafted to very high German standards. They share common facilities: managed reception, bar/ shop/ internet cafe, laundry room and wellness centre that consists of a Jacussi, steam room, sauna and massage centre. Pirin residents also have access to the pool in the nearby Lion Hotel. Apartment 32 has a log-burner fireplace, a kitchen, central heating and access from either a lift or stairs.

The Pirin/Rhodope Mountains region


Bansko is situated at an altitude of 925m on the river Glazane in the north-eastern foot of the beautiful tree lined Pirin mountains.
The climate is transitional-continental which means the summer is usually quite sunny and fresh and the winter is snowy, mild, and continuous.
The Bansko / Gramadeto area
In recent years Bansko has developed into a favourite holiday destination, thanks to the excellent ski facilities combined with its unique architecture and historical significance.
Bansko is without doubt Bulgaria's premier ski resort, having the best and most modern ski centre of all Bulgarian ski resorts. It also has the best snow record and the longest ski season (15 Dec - 15 April). During recent years a multi-million Euro investment in a brand new skiing area has made the resort suitable for all abilities which means there's something for everyone... from the expert who wants to perfect their style and technique on the black runs (there is English one-to-one tuition available to assist with this, as is race tuition - all at very friendly Bulgarian prices!)(Weblink), to the beginner and intermediate, especially if it's kilometre after kilometre of runs you are seeking.
All the pistes are well planned, with approximately 60 snow cannons covering many of the runs which ensures good skiing from mid December through until April.
Bansko village is some 1500m below the top ski area and is often bathed in the warm winter sunshine, but it is still possible to ski back to the gondola station... even at night as several of the runs are flood lit!
In summer, the town has more to offer than you may think, boasting a wealth of exciting activities and day trips. The mountains are magnificent, the vistas are wonderful and you are in for a treat whether your holiday is walking or driving based.

There is also a popular beer festival as well as a free international Jazz festival.

Sofia is the nearest airport. BA flies there from Heathrow, Whizzair from Luton, Easyjet from Manchester or Gatwick. Flights take around 3.15hrs from Gatwick. Transfers can be arranged to and from the airport by our management company who will also make sure the apartment is ready for your arrival and answer any questions you may have, as will the helpful reception staff.
In Summer it is recommended that you hire a car from the airport and drive to Bansko. We can help you with car hire companies, directions and top tips for driving in Bulgaria. A hire car is a must if you are to properly enjoy everything on offer in Bansko and the surrounding area. Car hire can be found from 40 Euro per day upwards.
Alternatively there are buses running regularly from Sofia Central Bus Station (a short taxi ride from the airport). Using local buses is a very cheap and interesting way to travel if it suits your style and your pocket.
In winter if you are skiing each day, there is little need for a car so the norm is to get a taxi from Sofia airport to Bansko.
