This beautiful 2 bedroomed Ski chalet is luxuriously fitted with top quality furniture & equipment including a cosy log fire. Built from local natural materials, solid wood & stone, it sits high up on the hillside with spectacular views over the forest covered slopes of the Pirin, Rila and the Rhodope mountains.
There’s a lounge, dining room with a fully fitted galley kitchen. There are 2 twin bedded rooms, one has a chair bed. The lounge has a sofa bed. The chalet therefore sleeps a maximum of 7 people.
The chalet is situated within the grounds of one of the finest 4 star hotels in the region, The Katarino Spa. All the facilities of this brand new Spa hotel are available to guests of Chalet Katarino 23.

The Pirin/Rhodope Mountains region
The Pirin and Rhodope mountains offer some the most spectacular views in Bulgaria and has excellent skiing facilities. The ski season here lasts through from the 15th of December to the 15th of May making it the longest ski season in the whole of Bulgaria. Bansko is 5 miles away; there is a shuttle bus which runs every 15 minutes to the bottom of the gondola and back.
Bansko is the newest and the most rapidly developing ski resorts in Bulgaria. 40 million Euros have been invested, to create a top rate facility with the best equipment, including a new gondola, snow guns, electronic ski pass system etc. There are 14 pistes totalling 65km, including a 16 km run plus cross country and excellent off piste skiing.
Bansko is popular with snowboarders; facilities include a half pipe. There is a top class ski school for all levels of ability. The ski season is one of the longest; roughly mid December until the end of April.
The Ski area is excellent for beginners and intermediates. For snowboarders and the more advanced skiers there is challenging off piste.The Ulen Ski and Snowboard School or Bansko Sport offer good tuition, particularly for children. Lessons in a group of 2 to 4 people are about 5 EUR (3.50 GBP) per hour per person.
The area is also excellent in the Summer months offering excellent hiking and other outdoor activities such as Golf, Rock Climbing and if you are brave enough paragliding.
Bansko / Katarino area
The chalet has a balcony overlooking its' own private south facing garden with loungers to enjoy summer sun. It's typically 30C in the summer, whilst temperatures fall dramatically in the winter ski season. This is truly an all year round holiday destination.
Onsite facilities include restaurant, pub "Mehana", two conference halls, lobby bar, hairdressers, ski room, table tennis, pool, souvenir shop and internet club. The sports centre has: indoor swimming pool (22m x 5.6m), outdoor pool, four bowling alleys, fitness centre, sauna, solarium, steam bath, massage room. The open area sports facilities include a tennis court for small children there's a multi functional play ground and an animal enclosure.
Ski and snowboard equipment can be hired at the hotel. Skis, boots and poles for an adult, for 6 days are about 50 EUR (36 GBP). Half price for children under 12 years.
The Katarino Spa Hotel is self contained with everything you could want for a fulfilling holiday experience.

Cheap flights are available from most UK airports. Try wizzair.com, flightline.co.uk or bulgariaflights.com. Car hire is available from; www.bulgariacarrent.com or www.rentacarbulgaria.com. Wizz Air has announced direct flights from London (Luton) to Sofia as of 1st May, 2006. Prices start around £70 return including all taxes.

The hotel has an indoor swimming pool (22m x 5.6m), and an outdoor pool which is heated to 36 deg.C in the winter. The hotel spa facilities are fantastic & not to be missed.

Buffet style Breakfast & Dinner in the Katarino Hotel is 15 EUR (£11) per day for adults and 10 EUR (£7) per day for children. For Christmas, New Year, Feb Half-Term & Easter payment is required in full 30% non-refundable deposit is required to confirm all other bookings. Booking balance of 70% is due 28 days before arrival. GBP 150 refundable deposit to cover possible breakages returned on departure.
