The Pirin/Rhodope Mountains region
“National Park Pirin” is situated in the South- West part of Bulgaria between the valleys of the rivers Mesta and Struma. The landscape of the park is mostly alpine in character. More than 80 mountains have latitude higher than 2500 meters. In the granite sector of the mountain there are more than 180 alpine lakes. The flora and fauna of the park are actually its wealth. More than 1300 species of higher plants are being preserved on its territory and 15 of these can be seen nowhere else in the world. In 1977, UNESCO’s Bureau of the International Committee of the “Human and the Biosphere” Program, endorsed it as a biosphere reserve. 13 tourist routes have been marked and one of them – the E4 is an international one. The length of the marches covering the routes varies from 2, 5 up to 8 hours.
Bansko area
Bansko is a year round resort. The ski season is long, lasting from November to Mid April. However whilst the mountains are covered in snow, the temperature in the town is generally higher. It is not uncommon by March / April to ski in the mountains in plenty of snow but wear shorts during the day in the town.
WINTER
In less than 20 minutes a fast Gondola cable lift will take you to the ski centre. Bansko is one of the few resorts in the world to offer the option whether to return by the Gondola or ski down the ski road, a unique 16-kilometres of uninterrupted skiing, starting from Todorka Peak at the highest point, all the way to base station at the outskirts of town.
The ski centre has over 65 kilometres of marked ski runs and cross country tracks. More than 50% of the slopes are covered by snow cannons and all runs are groomed by Kassbohrer slope maintenance vehicles to guarantee maximum safety and pleasure.
The ski runs are serviced by a number of cutting edge Doppelmayer ski lifts, chair lifts and drag lifts, including the 8-man Gondola and the four-chair lift with bubble shields to protect from harsh weather.
There is a ski- kindergarten for children from 4 to 7 years old with 3 baby drags, a Wonder Carpets baby track, and a winter/ summer rotunda type Kinder Carousel.
In the Platoto area there is a fun park which has artificial bumps and jumps. You are also given the opportunity to build your own.
Bansko offers what is probably the best après-ski, because it is a unique combination of a modern mountain resort and a living rustic town. Almost a hundred “mehana” dining places offer local cuisine dishes, with traditional song and dance, performed by local artists.
State of the art facilities - good variety for all types of skiers, off piste and cross-country skiing. • Highest Lift: 2560m • Km of Piste: 65km • Longest Run: 16km • Cross Country Trails: 9km • Beginner Slopes: 8 (Blue) • Intermediate Slopes: 11 (Red) • Advanced Slopes: 1 (Black) • Mtn Restaurants: 10 • Lifts: 15 (1 Gondola, 7 High Speed Chairs, 7 Drags) • Night Skiing • Over 30 Snow Canons • Auto read chip cards used, no photo required

Guestbook for Bojurland
Rob, Sussex - Jan 2009 The accommodation was lovely, especially the pool, sauna etc. We also found the hotel food to be good and very reasonable. We had some fantastically amusing evenings in some of the bars with random Bulgarian people! I think we might be back again...
Mr & Mrs S, Leeds Stayed 2 weeks in summer. Fantastic holiday. Apartment has everything we needed and more. Lots to do. Really nice people. Food excellent. We'll be back, probably try ski season next time.
Ms J, London Excellent accommodation. Really close to town with lots of Mehanas selling wonderful food. Ski was great, lots of snow. Hope to come again next year.
