The Koh Samui region

Koh Samui is the island of three million coconut trees! It is the third largest island in Thailand, with a area of 228.7 km². Only Phuket and Koh Chang are larger. It is located in the Gulf of Thailand, 700 kilometers south of Bangkok, in the province of Surat Thani.

Well known beaches are Chaweng, Lamai, Bophut, Big Buddha, Choengmon, Hua Thanon and Maenam. Samui do also has many sister islands; Koh Tao (top diving destination in Asia), Koh Phangan (known for it's Full Moon Party etc.), Angthong National Marine Park, Koh Tan and the spectacular Koh Nang Yuan.

The 55 kilometer long ring road makes it convenient and practical to travel from beach to beach. It was built in 1973. The airport was built in 1989 and totally renovated in 2007. It is considered as one of the most beautiful and exotic airports in the world. - See more at:

Koh Samui's stunning Bang Rak beach is 4km long with white sands and clear blue water and adjoins the popular north-eastern corner of Koh Samui Island. The Bang Rak beach is known for its excellent scenery and lively parties. However, the beach in Bang Rak is quite serene and laidback in contrast to the other main beaches in Koh Samui.

The Bang Rak Beach is known for its traditional Thai wooden ferry boat rides and if you are interested, you can take a ride to enjoy the stunning views of the distant hilly terrains and sparkling water. In addition to the relaxing ferry ride, you can enjoy other water activities, including the ability to hire a speedboat.

Seafood lovers will relish the opportunity to explore the fresh fish market in Bang Rak. The market is located just beyond the popular Seatran pier and across the beach area, you will find some upscale restaurants and eateries. Some of these serve traditional local cuisine, and others serve international food.

Towards the southern end of the beach, you will find plenty of lodging options including resorts, hotels, quaint villas and holiday homes. Some resorts offer well-appointed rooms, private beaches, swimming pools and shady bamboo pavilions where you can enjoy Thai massage and aromatherapy. These upscale lodging venues also offer beachfront restaurants and bars for you to enjoy some traditional delicacies.

"Excellent , luxurious , and very enjoyable"

We went with 8 friends and we found it roomy clean with excellent amenities and in a very quiet area. The pool and rooftop spa was a bonus and with 5 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms it was a great way to share a memorable holiday. We would not hesitate to recommend this place to friends and family .

"Nice place but on the airline path plan"

Really enjoyed our stay at Villa Melitta, the main down fall is under the airports flight path. Although this is mainly during the day it can be a bit off putting being in the pool and almost seeing the faces of passengers on planes through the windows. I do realise this is not the owners fault but you need to be made aware. Great place very big and offers everything you need although no swimming beaches close enough to walk to if your after that.

It's great to hear you enjoyed your stay. We appreciate your point of being able to view some BangkokAir flights landing into Koh Samui. However we should clarify that Villa Melitta is not on the flight path from this small island. Many of our previous guests have enjoyed the novelty of being able to photo Bangkok Airways coming in gracefully over Bangrak Bay. As for our local beaches, excellent swimming can be found only a 2 or 3 minutes away at Bangrak Beach near Secret Garden Resort or it is 5 minutes to Choeng Mon beach which is voted one of the nicest beaches on Koh Samui.

Breakfast was served each morning with a ding of a bell. Pool was Beautiful. The two caretakers looked after everything but you hardly saw them. They were very discreet. Location was perfect as we had a pick up ute to go evertwhere. Close to the airport. Rooms spacious and Bathrooms all different but awesome. 3rd floor with spa n extra room or study was a bonus. Great house with our big group of friends. Even though we were all together we all had our own space in our rooms which was brilliant.I would recommend this place in a heartbeat.

We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed stay. Thank you for such great feedback on the villa, pool, location, our breakfast service and diligent yet discrete staff. We hope to welcome you again in the future!
