The North Wales / Snowdonia/Gwynedd region

Snowdonia The National Park attracts climbers and walkers from all over the world, it is a walker’s paradise with hundreds of paths of varying degrees of difficulty and as many good guide books to help you find your way. The towering mountains, foothills rolling down to the sea, beautiful valleys, lakes and alpine villages create a picture that can be enjoyed all the year round.
Bangor is a university town with a 12th century cathedral, museum and the Victorian Gothic castle at Penrhyn. The cog railway to the top of Snowdonia sets off from the lakeside town of Llanberis and there are several well documented footpaths to the summit for the more energetic. Visitors to Betws y Coed enjoy the pubs and restaurants and the excellent shops specialising in Welsh crafts, local produce, climbing gear and outdoor clothes.
The Bangor - Wales / Llanllechid area
Aber Falls - Rhaeadr Fawr in Welsh - is Wales's tallest vertical waterfall, cascading from a height of 120 feet over an igneous rock face. Located in the Carneddau mountains between Bangor and Conway, it is reached via a magical woodland or the cottage has direct access to the "Caerneddau".
Holy Island
Clinging to a lonely crag prodding out into the Irish Sea, the Victorian lighthouse on South Stack is visible to ships some 28 miles away. Nearby on the windswept heaths are pre-historic standing stones, burial chambers and a Roman watch-tower. The high concentration of religious sites on the island are the reason for it's name
Llanberis has an unusual mix of things to do, whether it be pony trekking, visiting the immense hydraulic power station inside 'Electric Mountain' or discovering the museum and slate quarries of Dinorwic, with abandoned miners' houses eerily reminiscent of ancient ruins in Central America. From here you can see Dolbadarn Castle, which has been painted by the artist Turner, and nestles in an idyllic setting above the lake. or its mystical name.
Detour down the beautiful Conwy Valley following the river to Llanwrst and its arched bridge, then on to Bodnant Gardens and good garden centres. Beddgelert is a picturesque village famous for its association with the romantic legend of a prince and his faithful hound, and now the place to stop for tea or go hunting for antiques. Travel a little further on, through Porthmadog to the Italianate village of Portmeirion, its fantasy pastel buildings fringing a sheltered bay with stunning views across the sea to the mountains and with lovely shops to tempt you.

We had the most fantastic time at Beudy Mawr. The farmhouse was beautifully clean and the fresh bread, eggs and wine went down a treat on arrival. When we were finally able to get our two teenagers out of the hot tub they were never bored as there is so much to do in the area. Lliwen and Paul were the kindest hosts we have ever come across. The only downside is that we couldn't take their sheepdog Snoopy home with us. |

We stayed here for easter week 2011, with our son who is 11yrs. I cannot say enough about the stay, from the moment we arrived till we left, we felt welcome and well looked after, our hosts couldnt have been more welcoming and helpful, we arrived to amazing homemade bread, fresh eggs and a lovely bottle of wine. The cottage was lovely with a high standard of decor, it was very clean and felt like staying in a real home everything you needed was there, I was introduced to the wonder of halogen cooking which I now love amazing! My son loved the upper level which he claimed as soon as we arrived, we loved the hot tub which after a hard day walking was heavenly, the sauna was good too would love to say we used the gym but alas hot tub, sauna what can I say. The location was great not far from joining the main traffic but felt like you were in another world with amazing views. We took Snoopy the dog a lovely walk, my son loved Snoopy. I can honestly say we had a fab time staying here and will revisit in the future. |

Review Title : 958352 - "Best holiday we've ever had!..............."
"An absolutely beautiful and tranquil retreat set in the foothills of Snowdonia.
The cottage was wonderful with every amenity including the relaxing Hot Tub , Sauna, and well equipped Gym. The owners are really lovely people and on arrival greeted us with freshly baked bread and fresh eggs from their own chickens. We couldn't have asked for more. This is a fantastic base for exploring the surrounding area of North Wales. We enjoyed lovely days out at nearby Betws-y-Coed, Llanberis, Caernarfon and the Isle of Anglesey. There is plenty to see and do as well as just relaxing in the beautiful surroundings. We took our dog Megan and she had a great time with the many wonderful walks in the foothills. We are already looking forward to going back again and would highly reccommend this outstanding holiday retreat...................Five Stars!!!"

Myself, my partner and our 3 children (ages 10 to 15) went to this cottage in early April 2009. The location was fantastic - on a welsh mountain hillside with views of the mountains in one direction and the Menai Strait in the other. The directions given by the owner on how to get to the property was spot on. The property was really well laid out and had everything we needed. It was clean and well maintained. The owner was on hand when we arrived and she made us feel very welcome. There was fresh homemade bread and free range eggs witing for us and there was also tea, coffee and sugar already in the cupboards. We made use of the spa facilities on 2 of our nights there. The hot tub was amazing. The sauna was good to go in after the hot tub to dry off. The property is very well located for either travelling into Snowdonia and the mountains, or going East to Conwy or west to Anglesey. We had a fantastic time and would recommend this beautiful cottage to all.

We stayed at this property over the Easter holidays and would recommend it to anyone.
we were greeted with homemade bread, fresh eggs from (Paul and LLiwen's own hens) and a bottle of wine - a good start that got better!
The property appears compact, but we were here with our two children (a bouncy 7 year old girl and a beefy 13 year old boy) and had ample space (helped by the open mezzanine, which the kids loved). The cottage had everything we needed, was beautifully maintained and in a wonderful location with very nice owners on site.
The hot tub was fabulous, as was the sauna - the only problem was it was so good that some of my more ambitious excursions had to be curtailed as I couldn't get the wife and kids out of the darned thing!
We visited South Stacks (near Holyhead) to see the puffins- well worth doing if you are willing to face the 400+ steps, Bodnant Gardens (which were stunning) and Penrhyn Castle (the victorian kitchens were well worth the visit). Beaumaris was surprisingly upmarket, with some lovely shops (particularly liked 'Sarah's' deli) and we had a go at crab fishing off the pier.
The highlight for me was going up into the mountains - the drive over to Capel Curig then down the Llanberris Pass and back up to Bedgellert before ending up in Caernarfon was truly stunning.
All in all, a fabulous break at a lovely cottage and definitely to be repeated in the near future.
