About the home

This self catering ground floor apartment occupies the ground floor of Balai House in the heart of the pretty coastal village of Gardenstown. Dating back to the mid 19th century, the property has been beautifully modernised in recent times, whilst retaining some lovely original features. The main living accommodation is open plan. The lounge area has an attractive modern suite with a multi-fuel fire providing a warm welcoming focal point. There is a good sized dining table and chairs at the far end and a modern, well-equipped kitchen, separated by a low dividing wall. The two pretty bedrooms are attractively presented with colour-coordinated furnishings. There is also a spacious, contemporary shower-room.

The Banff / Gardenstown area

Situated right on the edge of the sea, at the bottom of a small winding lane that leads down from the cliffs, Gardenstown is a quintessential fishing village which oozes charm and tranquillity. The small winding streets, picturesque harbour and old stone cottages seem untouched by time.  The spectacular views, headland and bays have been the setting for a number of television programmes and the village has become a haven for artists.  Sandy beaches and rocky coves make it an ideal location for all ages.  Dolphins and seals are regular visitors and the area is renowned for its wealth of sea-birds.  Golf, fishing, riding, sailing, canoeing, surfing, walking and cycling are all regular local pastimes. Gardenstown also hosts a number of special events and activities during the summer months. The nearby town of Macduff has an excellent aquarium centre, and some of the finest championship golf courses are within easy reach.  Wonderful coastal walks abound – there is a lovely walk direct from the property along the shoreline to the pretty seaside village of Crovie.  The historic town of Banff is within easy driving distance. Fishing for mackerel off the pier, sitting on the harbour wall watching the amazing sunsets over the sea, enjoying a tasty meal at the harbour restaurant; all these will provide many happy holiday memories
