Home description

Semi countryside and residential area. Amongst other villas - approximately 250m from other houses, superbly well situated 1500m from the beaches in Bandol.

The house itself is well equipped and comfortable providing cool interiors for a break from the hot sun and pleasant outdoor areas. The grounds are typically planted with olive trees, palm trees and Mediterranean vegetation, but the tiled terraces surround the house giving comfortable lounging areas.

The massive pool is situated alongside the villas and offers views across the hills. A diving board for the active and plenty of loungers for the relaxed. An outdoor dining area and built in barbecue are provided for those warm evenings around a delicious grilled meal and a bottle of cool Bandol Rosé.

The Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur / Var region

The Var department is situated west of its famous neighbour Côte d’Azur. With its beautiful landscape with both mountains and sea and its sunny Mediterranean weather it is a popular holiday destination all year round.
Along its 300-km long coast, you will find some stylish seaside resorts like glitzy St Tropez and Ste Maxime, as well as some smaller but equally beautiful and charming resorts like Bandol or Le Lavandou. The beautiful Iles d'Or (Porquerolles, Ile du Levant and Pors Cros) are also well worth a visit and can be reached by boat from La Tour Fondue near Hyères. Inland, you will find delightful and unspoilt hilltop villages, green oak forests and further to the north, the breathtaking Gorges du Verdon with its many water sports and activities. A visit to the Abbaye du Tholonet while the monks sing their evensong can be a most relaxing break from the bustling beaches. The Var region is particularly well known for its Rosé wine and a good fresh Bandol is well worth a meal in a seafront restaurant. The local Gastronomy is bursting with fresh herbs and full provencal flavours.


Bandol area

There are several sandy beaches in Bandol, as well as calanques (smaller inlets and creeks) dotted along the coast, some accessible by boat only. The Plage du Lido, Plage du Casino and the Plage de Rènecros are the main beaches, and the most crowded. A good range of watersports is available, including sailing, waterskiing, sea-kayaking, windsurfing, scuba-diving and deep sea fishing.
Boat trips to the island of Porquerolles, or to Cassis and the Calanques are popular excursions from Bandol. Or you could go for a walk on the Sentier Littoral between Bandol and St Cyr sur Mer (12km/7 miles), a walking route that snakes around the coast. The path rambles around the sea and over rocks, opening up into some quiet coves. If you fancy a spot of golf, try the golf course of Frégate, route de Bandol in nearby Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer.
Sailing and sea-kayaking are two activities popular with older children. Paragliding, mountain biking, tennis and horse-riding are also available in or around Bandol. The exotic gardens and zoo (route de Sanary-sur-Mer) will appeal to younger children.
There are plenty of shops in Bandol with all sorts of beachwear and souvenirs. Local supermarkets are also handy for stocking up on groceries. There is a market every Tuesday morning by the harbour, and a bigger daily market in nearby Sanary-sur-Mer. In summer there are sometimes evening markets along the promenade keeping the beaches busy right up until late.
Bandol is not known as a wild party town, but there is enough nightlife to keep most people entertained in the evening. Most of the bars (some with live music) are concentrated around the harbour area, and there are a couple of nightclubs for those wishing to dance the night away. Le Casino de Bandol (place Lucien Artaud) is open daily until 0400, and features 120 slot machines and seven game tables. The Black Jack Elixir Art Club is a trendy spot that offers themed evenings every Friday.
There are plenty of restaurants, crêperies, pizzerias and snack bars in Bandol. Many line the promenade but the harbour area is where most of those are concentrated. Make sure you try the local AOC Bandol wine, particularly the rosé!


How to get there

Small airport Toulon-Hyeres (TLN).

Marseille and Nice arports are 1-2 hours.

Budget airlines Easy jet fly to Marseille, Easy jet to Nice.

Train station in Bandol, High speed trains run to Aix en Provence, Marseille and Hyeres.

Local Bus services run in and around Bandol and along the coast to neighbouring beaches and towns.

Heating: 70€/week.
Electricity: allowance of 130 Kw/h per week included. Then extra unit at 0.16€ per Kw/h.
Water: allowance of 7m3/week included. Then extra usage charged at 3€/m3.
