A truly stunning converted detached steading with 4/5 generous bedroom, sleeping a maximum 12 people with the advantage of a beautiful country location with picturesque Craigievar Castle closeby, providing lovely views of the open countryside, this hand built house, with imposing vaulted ceilings, enjoys the benefits of an open plan layout. The Hideaway has a contemporary feel, ideal for a large family with the large open plan kitchen, traditional family room and large dining area.

The heart of the home lies within these areas with the kitchen fitted with black gloss units, wood work tops

to compliment, integrated double ovens, hob, two induction hobs, dishwasher and American style fridge frezer. There is a large

central island with storage which also acts as a breakfast bar. The sitting area boasts a granite ingle nook

housing a multi fuel stove. Under-floor heating which serves the entire home is operated by means of a log

burning system.

Downstairs, the 'Cathedral' style bedroom benefits from en suite facilities as does as the master

bedroom which has the advantage of spectacular views to Banahie with two double doors leading out onto the decking area

and wall to wall built-in wardrobes. A further bedroom and bathroom situated on the ground floor.

Upstairs a large king bedroom with stunning views and a stepped up area leading to an open mezanine

with a double sofa bed. This large upstairs area is ideal for families with up to four children and 2 adults.

Outside, there is ample parking facilities and patio areas to enjoy the seasonal weather.

Access to the gym can be arranged on site.

The Hideaway is an ideal venue for a wedding and can take up to 75 guests.. please email for more details

NOTE: The underfloor heating costs are included in the rental. Acces to the log boiler will be arranged with the owner upon arrival in winter months. Logs for log fire in the family room are charged as extras during the Summer months.

A security deposit deposit of £200 will be required on arrival and refunded on departure.. this can be arranged by debit or card.

You will find us nestled in the foothills of the Cairngom Mountains with fantastic veiws over to Benaheigh and beyond. Tucked away from city life yet only a short distance to the nearest village and Aberdeen 25 miles away, ideal for skiers who want something different, the slopes are approx 30 mins drive with Braemar 40 mins drive. Tempreature ranges from 30 to -10.. good touring base for north of Scotland or just to escape.

"Bonnie pad but baltic"

So far the last four reviews from the same poor guests who failed to advise us of any of these issues until we presented them with their bill, we were in the house next door all weekend and not one of you complained about the heating until you left.. Without paying your bill! Shame on you for writing these reviews which raised points we were unaware of until reading them on trip advisor . These are things we would have been more than happy to fix quickly for you. We treated you with respect during your stay here .. And expect the same in return. Please stop this witch hunt.. Your continued spiteful comments are unwelcome and do not reflect the true experience guests have complimented us on in the past. The Owners

"Disappointing!"

With regard to your recent post I would like to clarify some of the points you made, while making clear to other quests, the circumstances which led to your unfair review: On arrival, you were shown around the house and asked to let us know immediately (we stay in the house adjoining the property) if there is anything you need or if you required cleaning materials etc. You were asked to inspect the property and advise us of anything unacceptable or that we may have overlooked.. The house is huge 350sq metres. Here are the false allegations made after I presented you with the bill on the Monday morning of your departure. This was for providing dinner for 8, cocktails and wine for 10 during your 3 night stay: 'The kitchen was not clean and my friend had to clean the surfaces and the floor was dirty! No brush, mop or hoover to be found!' I showed you on arrival where the industrial sized mop, bucket, brush and hoover are kept, in the log cabin next to the house, to save space and for hygiene purposes. The kitchen was thoroughly cleaned and the floor thoroughly mopped the day of your arrival. The house was also checked over by a third party prior to your arrival. The house was warm and the log fire was on when you arrived. You arranged for us to cook dinner for 8 people for 7pm. We used the kitchen to prepare the roast dinner you requested. You did not state you wanted us to thoroughly clean the kitchen afterwards,. We tided all the dishes and left you to continue enjoying your family celebration. We asked you repeatedly during your stay if there was anything else you needed. Guests appeared to be mostly drunk, not interested in putting logs in the boiler or the fire and when they did on the Sunday, they used damp logs which would not burn hence the smoke. This combined with failing to empty the ash set off the smoke alarm and filled the room with smoke. Instructions clearly state what to do. 'The fire requires attention as when lit, though there was no sign of smoke you could feel it at the back of your throat and friends who came to visit complained that their clothes smelt of smoke on leaving!' You all happily agreed everything was in order and loved the house. I explained the house rules which included the working of the wood burning boiler and stove. As guests, you had direct unlimited access to a large stock of dry firewood and were asked not to use the damp wood stored at the back of the log cabin. 'The heating broke down whist we stayed there and despite informing the owner nothing was done!' At no time did any of the guests complain about heating until I presented the bill to them for dinner and cocktails as they tried to leave without paying! There are additional heaters in every room as a back up. When I checked the heating on your departure, only one of the rooms had used additional heating and the main boiler had been allowed to go out! This is the main source of heating for the house. I asked why this wasn't mentioned before and one of them got into his car and drove off! My husband adjusted the thermostat in one of the bathrooms on the Sunday of your stay.. it had been turned off. Other than that, we were unaware of any problem. My husband served drinks for over 5 hrs to your party during the Saturday evening and at no time did anyone mention the heating. After you left on Monday morning, I noted you had not used the dry firewood and the fire had not been lit in the lounge. This is a rural house with a biomass log eco heating system. This is clearly stated on Holiday Lettings website. We work hard to maintain high standards at our beautiful rural property, as previous guest’s reviews and comments can confirm.

"Cold barn of a place and charged a fortune for heating logs."

Dear Guest Thank you for your review.. as explained we charge extra for unlimited access to logs in the peak months of July and August as the house is warm at that time. To keep the cost down we add them as an extra as most people dont use them. They can be pre paid as stated on holiday lettings website. We did explain this and you were happy to help your selves to the logs. To date we have had no other complains about the heating in the house and would have happily fuelled the underfloor heating for you if you had advised us. The directions are clear on the email sent to you after the balance is paid. However, if you use the satnav /postcode option it can be confused with the next farm as we share the same post code. I trust all other aspects of your stay at The Hideaway were satisfactory.
