Gledston cottage is a Grade II listed 17th Century thatched cottage, located in the heart of the pretty North Oxfordshire village of North Newington, three miles from the centre of Banbury. Built in the early 1600's it is quirky and full of character with period features and an enclosed south facing rear garden.
The village of stands on the Salt Way, (an ancient road used to transport salt from Droitwich to London), and is surrounded by the beautiful North Oxfordshire countryside with its many footpaths it is also on the Oxfordshire cycleway.
Kitchen/diner includes washing machine, fridge with ice box, microwave and cooker. Tea, coffee and sugar as well as other basic cooking ingredients are provided alongside tea towels, washing up liquid and dishcloths.
In the two bedrooms there is a double bed and two single beds as well as a cot. (A put-u-up suitable for a child can also be provided if required).
The lounge has a TV/DVD player and there is a selection of DVD's plus games to play and a variety of books to read.
Outside there is an enclosed sunny private garden with a picnic table and garden chairs - a perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine after a day spent touring the sights.
The nearby historic market town of Banbury sits on the banks of the River Cherwell and the Oxford Canal and dates back to the Iron Age. It offers an abundance of amenities including restaurants, cafes, a canalside museum, many individual shops, cinema, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, bowling alley and local theatre. There is also a fast rail service to London, Birmingham and beyond.
26 miles from Oxford and 16 miles from Stratford upon Avon Banbury is also convenient for the Cotswolds, Silverstone, Milton Keynes Warwick and Leamington Spa.
Several historic houses and gardens within easy reach such as Upton House, Stow, Blenheim Palace and Warwick Castle.
