Schull, the Sheep's head peninsula, the beautiful and dramatic Beara peninsula can all be reached within a short drive. Ballydehob takes it name form the Irish Béal an dá Chab, meaning "the ford at the mouth of two rivers". Situated in West Cork 3 miles from the coast and 8 miles west of Skibbereen, Ballydehob is a very colourful little village, the home to many artists, craft shops, galleries, antique shops and many good eating and drinking establishments. As you enter the town from the east you will see a the 12 arch viaduct that was used by the West Cork Railway in the last century.

"A great place to stay in County Cork"
We stayed in this very comfortable cottage for a week and travelled all around the county from here. It's very central for sightseeing and we even did the Ring of Kerry in a day from here. The co… More
