The Western Ireland region
Situated in the heart of Connemara, approximately 4 miles from Ballyconeely and 8 miles from Clifden the cottage is set 100m from the rocky shore overlooking a quiet and sheltered bay overlooking an uninhabited island.
The beautiful sandy beaches of Dunloughan are a 10 minute walk and the Ballyconeely golf course is a short drive in the next bay. It is ideal to explore on a bicycle and at low tide there are plenty of walks over the the islands. Lots of fishing, both sea and fly for trout is available in the many hill loughs and on the local rivers. Wild flowers abound in the Spring and Summer and the shallow bay is ideal for swimming.
The Connemara Coastline is well worth exploring as well as the Connemara National Park. Nearby is the town of Clifden. Clifden today is a lively town with excellent restaurants offering diverse food and several sociable pubs with traditional music. Even on wet days this area is beautiful with waterfalls and lovely walks.
