Ballybofey

Killygordon is a small Village located along the main N15 in Donegal, which is the road that Links Lifford at the Northern Ireland border to Galway City. The surrounding area is commonly known as the Finn Valley and lies at the heart of the Beautiful County of Donegal. The Cottage is in the Center of the Village set back from the road in a mature woodland garden approx 100 meters from the River Finn renowned to be one of the best Salmon and Trout fishing rivers in Ireland, the banks of the Finn provide a beautiful place for a stroll with or without a fishing rod. The Market towns of Ballybofey and Stranorlar are 5km from Killygordon village. Steeped in history the Twin Towns as they are called by the locals have seen very little change through the generations, a traditional cattle mart is still held here once a month, and although modern development has taken place over the years to enhance and improve local services and facilities, the Main Street has remained relatively untouched, filled with colorful shop and bar fronts most of which have been trading for the same families for generations. The Twin Towns is home to the beautiful Drumboe Woods, which runs behind the town linking them with a foot bridge over the River, a walk through the woods will take you to the ruins of Drumboe Castle which dates back to 1622. A choice of great bars and Restaurants are dotted along the Main Street, as is a state of the art Theatre, Ballybofey and Stranorlar Golf club is located at the edge of town, and a full leisure Center is also available for anyone who fancies a visit to the Gym or a morning swim. Heading south out of Ballybofey a 15 minute drive through Barnes gap takes you to Historic Donegal Town a must for any visitor to the area but don't forget to stop at Biddy's O'barnes originally a coaching inn dating back to the mid 1800's where weary travelers would stop to rest there Horses, they say it is unlucky to pass Biddy's without stopping.
