Home description
The Burren is a protected environmental area with a distinctive limestone landscape and beautiful flora and fauna. It is popular with walkers and painters and those with families who have an interest in the outdoors. Bellharbour is located approx 7 km from two villages, Ballyvaughan and Kinvara, both of which have a choice of traditional Irish Pubs and seafood restaurants, and 40 k from Galway city. The area is a wonderful location for those who love nature and the countryside, and is a safe haven for children.
This cottage is in the heart of the Burren. There is a 365 degree view when you are outside and it is very peaceful and quiet. It is only 500 yards from a small local shop/pub and it is lovely to enjoy a drink in the evening without the need to drive home. We have on many occasions left the lamb roasting in the oven ( with herbs from neighbour Joyces's garden) while we enjoy a Guinness and friendly chat. There are wonderful beaches and surfing so the older children can have a look in also. It is a place that instantly unwinds and de-stresses. We have found that a wide spectrum of people have enjoyed the house from families with young children to retired couples.

The Galway / County Clare / County Clare region
We are 50K from Galway which is the capital of the west of Ireland and the province of Connaught. The area is steeped in history. We enjoy mountain walks over the green roads, which were built during famine times and these walks traverse the local area linking the various towns.
Ballvaughan area
The Burren area is a unique and protected landscape. The area is coastal with beautiful beaches but there are hills and mountain walks. The area appeals to those who love the outdoors, and the peaceful surroundings.
There is a good surfing beach in Fanore which is about a 20 minute drive. The area is also popular with cavers. The prehistoric sites and the flora and fauna of the Burren are a great attraction for visitors.
The house is surrounded by green fields and it is a safe and peaceful haven for families and children. There is a small pub/shop nearby, only a few minutes walk and this can provide some nightly entertainment and the odd musical session. There are a number of restaurants in Ballyvaughan which is only 8k away and the larger towns of Kinvara, Gort and Galway provide extra facilities.

The double room and main bathroom are downstairs and upstairs there is a WC and two twin bedrooms at either gable end. The house has a view of Bellharbour bay and is surrounded by mountains and countryside. The house has all of the main comforts such as dishwasher and microwave but still maintains the traditional feel of an Irish Cottage. With Liscannnor flagstone floors. It is great for those who wish to use it as a base to explore the immediate and wider area. A number of the other cottages in the area are lived in by Artists who take inspiration from the surrounding area.
