Home description
Skellig Cottages lie in the heart of the beautiful, unspoiled landscape of the south-west coast of Ireland. The house is built in a style which reflects the traditional Irish Cottage, combined with all the necessary modern amenities, to make your stay one of complete relaxation & comfort. Husband and wife team Neil & Teresa O' Shea manage the cottages, and Neil is a native of the region whose family has resided in Kerry for generations.
The 4 Star designed cottage offers guests the best in modern holiday accommodation while maintaining a link to the traditional Irish styled cottage. Ballinskellig's Blue Flag beach is just seven minutes' walk away, and there is a cafe on the bach where you can enjoy a freshly brewed coffee while you browse through local prints of interest. Cable O'Leary's Bar and Restaurant is also situated beside the beach.

The County Kerry region
Skellig Cottage is located in Dungegan, on the magnificent Skellig Ring between Waterville & Valentia Island. Wild rugged coastlines, scattered islands, vast mountains & high passes, this Gaeltacht, Gaelic speaking (also English speaking) region, will leave you longing to come back again.
The cottages are adjacent to many tourist attractions, namely, Skellig Michael, Valentia Island, Derrynane, Kilreelig Arts Centre & Kerry Way Walks not to mention the many beautiful lakes that grace the landscape.
Ballinskelligs / Dungegan area
The Blue Flag beach at Ballinskelligs is less than a mile from the cottages & the well known Tigh Rosie is less than half a mile, as is the local shop, from the cottages. A visit to the Cill Rialaig village is a must, as well as to the Art Centre, which is in the village of Dungegan. A trip to the Skellig Rock is also a must and trips are organised from the local pier.
Fishing: There is excellent sea angling along the coast, and Lough Currane in Waterville is famous for its salmon fishing. Boats can be hired there.
The Ring of Kerry is a must where you can visit the slate quarry in Valentia and the Chocolate Factory in Portmagee where you can sample the beautiful home made chocolates. There is a large variety of gourmet restaurants in Watervilla and Cahirciveen.
