From the kitchen window you have a panoramic view of Brown’s Bay, sand beach and small islands. On a clear day the Donegal mountains with their steep cliffs look as if they are only a few miles away. A patio belongs to the apartment, where you can sit on a warm summer’s day and enjoy the spectacular view of the sea.

Ducks, hens, peafowl and our two friendly dogs Lilly & Harry belong to the household. The fowl is closed in a shed at night and won't disturb your night's sleep. Pablo, the peacock might visit you during the day.

Because we have animals ourselves we can allow you only in special circumstances to bring your own pet.

The patio has a picnic table and comfortable reclining fold-up chairs.

The North West Ireland region

The Countryside around Sligo is famous for its natural beauty. There are forests, lakes, mountains and plenty of Atlantic Ocean. Places to visit include the Church at Drumcliff with the grave of W.B.Yeats who's poetry made this area famous, Coney Island, Inishmurray Island and Parke's Castle on the shores of Lough Gill. During the summer months boat trips on Lough Gill are available from the castle grounds.

Sligo has lots of archaeological sites like Carrowmore and Creevykeel, natural bog lands and a beautiful coastline.

Ben Bulben and Knocknarea mountains are relatively easy to climb and you will be rewarded with a spectacular view reaching from Donegal to Mayo.

Nearby are the local supermarket (4 km) and the famous traditional 'Ellen's Pub' (3.2 km). Every Friday night you can enjoy there a traeditional session with local musicians. The next good restaurant is about 10 km away.

The local area offers many choices to the visitor like deep sea fishing and boat trips to Inishmurray Island, horse riding, golfing, pitch&putt, walking, safe swimming, cycling, surfing and whale watching.

In the winter months the largest flock of Barnacle Geese are staying in the area. Ballinfull is a paradise for birdwatchers.

From the house you can take a walk of approx. 30 minutes around the peninsula past the picturesque Raghly harbour, where local fishermen have there boats. Along the walk you have beautiful panoramic views of Sligo Bay with Ben Bulben, Knocknarea and Ox Mountains.

"Great place to unwind and explore."

What a welcome. Great hosts. Ulrike went out of her way to ensure we had a wonderful time. Raghley Cottage is in a superb position with stunning views. Great pubs and eating places nearby. Fifteen minutes to Sligo town. A perfect centre to explore this part of the west of Ireland.

"Perfect relaxing break"

The cottage, attached to the helpful owners' house, was clean and comfortable with stunning sea views from the kitchen/dining room and perfectly situated for touring round the area which so inspired W B Yeats. We loved the peace and quiet of Raghly, especially the scenic walk to the harbour and beach, and very much enjoyed our week's break there.

"A Hidden Gem"

The apartment is beautifully situated and well equipped. Lovely walks and isolated beaches nearby. The owner provides a warm welcome and appropriate support when required. Raghly Cottage is an ideal base for exploring the surrounding area. We loved the peace and quiet and the wonderful views from the kitchen and enjoyed feeding the peacock and watching the chickens ... just like stepping off the daily grind for a few days of total relaxation
