The Scottish Highlands region

From the lush green farmlands of the Borders to the ruggedness of the Highlands, the Scots are proud of their land and identity. Scotland also has some of Britain's best beaches with glorious stretches of clean sand over which to roam.

Ballindalloch

The village of Tomintoul is located on the main road that joins Royal Deeside to the Highlands, so if you're planning on exploring the surrounding area Tomintoul is a great place to call home for a week or so. As well as holding the prestigious title of the highest village anywhere in the Scottish Highlands, Tomintoul also has a surprisingly large amount of shops, pubs and places to eat. There's something for everyone at this high altitude location; take a stroll along the Speyside Trail, walk the Castle and the Whisky Trail or take a trip to Aviemore where there's plenty of skiing fun to be had.
