Ballina is ideally situated for touring the Belmullet / Erris area and Yeats county in Sligo Ballinas location at the heart of the new Wild Athlantic Way makes it an ideal location to stay for touring. It is only about 9 miles from Foxford where you will find Foxford woolen mills and visitor center.Enniscrone is about 6 miles from Ballina and has 3 miles of sandy beech, Lacken and Ross are other beeches in the area. If its golf you are into.you are well served by Ballinas golf course,Enniscrone golf course and the now famous Belmullet links course. Ballina also has its own pitch and putt.

Ballina is Mayos second largest town with a population of about 12,000 people. It is a vibrant town with numerious hotels,pubs and a wide variety of restaurants serving,Irish,European and Asian cuisane. Ballina area is renowed for its fishing in both lakes and rivers with the river Moy which flows through Ballina town known as The Salmon Capital of Ireland. It is surrounded by numerious lakes,the best known being Lough Conn in Pontoon which is famous for its brown trout and salmon fishing and covers an area of over 14,000 acres. Beleek woods in Ballina is situated along the banks of the river Moy. It comprises of over a 1,000 acres which makes it one of the largest urban woodlands in Europe. It is a peaceful haven of up to 6 miles of natural pathways and while walking there you might catch a glimpse of our national red squirrel. Beeleek Castle situated withen the woods is worth a visit, you can take a guided tour or visit its top class restaurant. Ballina also have an indoor swimming pool and leisure center and a cineme with 6 screens.It also runs a number of very successful festivals like, Ballinas Salmon festival,(mid July) a week long Halloween festival,( The Samhainn Abhainn), The Ballina Food Fleadh ( September) and at Christmas time The Frosty Salmon festival. If you are staying in Ballina and have children or teenagers perhaps you would like to go KAYAKING. Kayaking tours with lessons for individuals or groups including beginners can be arranged under qualified instructors. Maybe you would like to go on a cycling tour, bike rental including bikes and trailers for children can be arranged. What about a wild atlantic cultural tour, thats a coastal adventure for all the family around the local sea shore where you will find cockles,mussels and perriwinkles, Gather some edible seaweeds like dillisk,learn how to dry it, to chew on later or perhaps you might even see some dolphins or seals along the way. The whole tour is conducted by a Bord Failte approved local marine and countryside guide.

we have stayed in ballina lots of times this was by far the best place right by the river (my husband was fishing) plenty of room very clean everthing we needed.the owner
Martin Mills could not have been more helpful.Would stay there again no problem.
