The Aberdeenshire region
Ballater is set in Royal Deeside. the neighbouring village is Braemar where the Queen spends her summer holidays.
The town is scenic with the River Dee flowing through is. There are mountains surrounding the town. Everywhere you look you see beauty. In the town there are plenty of shops, cafes and restaurants to try. In the summer, you can sit on the village green and have a picnic and watch to world go by. Often there are car boot sales on the village green. You may have a display of the Ballater Pipe band practising their music. Ballater is buzzing with visitors during the summer months - there are so many wonderful places to walk around.
In the winter, the local restaurant has a roaring log fire burning. Delicious bowls of soup to warm you up. Excellent freshly made food using local ingredients is always available. Ballater is a bit quieter during the winter but looking up at the snow covered mountains will have you gasping with excitement!
