Syracuse Annexe. A Luxury modern self catering lodge fitted out to the highest standard and comfort. (Set in the garden of our own country retreat,) 2 minutes walk from the centre of the idyllic and picturesque village of Ballater. The accommodation would suit either couples or families.
Close by is the Royal retreat of Balmoral Castle, which offers an ideal starting point for visiting such attractions as the Victorian Heritage centre, Whisky Trails, or activities such as, golf, fishing, gliding, pony trekking, walking, (ski-ing in winter 45 minutes) or just the chance to relax, you'll find it here. Convenient for shops and restaurants it is an ideal base from where to explore the splendors of Royal Deeside.

The annexe has been created to make your vacation something a little bit special, super king size bed or twin beds in the downstairs master bedroom, double size Jacuzzi en suite both bedrooms, extra large shower one with seat and foot massage, enclosed heated balcony with views of the Craigendarroch hill.
A large fully fitted and well equipped breakfasting kitchen, gas cooker, microwave, and fridge. Open plan area incorporating dining room with patio doors to the rear garden.
Utility room with washing machine, freezer, sink, (tumble dryer in garage).Spacious Master bedroom, electric curtains, tinted windows with patio door, leading to garden area with water fountain, open/covered seating,
Adjoining the Master bedroom is twin bunk room.
Upstairs: Lounge with leather suite, TV, DVD and hi-fi system, electric curtains, and patio doors opening onto enclosed balcony.
Bedroom 2 with Super King Size bed or large twin beds, built in mirrored wardrobes, TV, Superb views over mature garden to the Craig Coillich hill leading to the Pannanich Wells.
Separate toilet and wash basin.
The accommodation adjoins the main house, which is set back from Monaltrie Avenue, the drive is private and secure with parking/turning area, garage available if required for cars or fishing/walking equipment, bikes etc.
Comprehensive selection of DVDs, CDs, books, board games, cards, also available are binoculars, hair dryers, and trouser press.

Gas barbecue, and use of owners fully enclosed gazebo with log burner, complete with fridge just to keep the wine chilled.

1. Lets commences at 16.00 pm on day of arrival and the Annexe should be vacated by 10 am on the day of departure. Guests are asked to leave the Annexe clean and tidy and remove personal food and perishable items.
2 . Smoking is not allowed in the Annexe / Grounds.
3 . Guests must accept responsibility for damage caused to the Annexe during their stay and will be liable for the cost of repair or replacement. Guests should also notify Mrs Murdoch of any faults found on arrival or during their stay so that we can ensure the Annexe is properly maintained.
4. A deposit is required to confirm the booking.
5 . Balance is payable 4 weeks before arrival.
6 . If booked within 6 weeks of arrival full payment is required.
7 .The proprietors of Syracuse Annexe reserve the right to cancel a reservation and refund all moneys due in the event of a transfer of ownership of the property. At least 6 weeks notice will be given.

The Scottish Highlands has some of the most dramatic scenary in the world, which in turns makes for some of the best walking country in the United Kingdom. The Highlands are also famous for its other outdoor pursuits these include rock climbing, mountain biking,water sports and much more! If you are lookin for a more relaxing break why not take in some of the local distilleriesor just relax and enjoy the scenary.
The Ballater area
Ballater is a burgh in Aberdeenshire, Scotland on the River Dee, just east of the Cairngorm Mountains. It is a centre for hikers and is known for its spring water, once said to cure scrofula. The Victoria Barracks is used by the Royal Guard for nearby Balmoral Castle. Birthplace of Sir Patrick Geddes.
Balmoral Castle is situated approx 12km away from Ballater and members of the Royal Family can often be seen driving around the village. Local stores such as the butchers on the high street and an outdoor sports shops have royal crests bestowed upon them.

In over 30 years holidays in the UK this is one of the best facilities - scenery - walks - red deer sightings ever, Thanks to Willie and Doreen for treating us like friends. Martin and Carole from Norfolk.
This is our 4th stay, loved every minute, Loch Muick still my favourite, with Linn O Dee as Willie says a stunningly beautiful place. The Johnston family Newcastle upon Tyne.
