Home description

Set in the small village of Frongoch and just three miles from the delightful market town of Bala is this traditional stone-built detached house. There is a cosy sitting room with an open Victorian fireplace and a well equipped fitted kitchen. The property has been tastefully decorated throughout and well furnished with a blend of modern convenience and traditional charm. Outside, visitors can enjoy dining on a pebbled sitting area with garden furniture with a barbecue – ideal for long summer evenings. The property is within easy driving distance of many local activities and amenities, including Lake Celyn and the famous National Whitewater Centre.

The North Wales / Snowdonia / Gwynedd region

Famous for its choirs, stunning mountain ranges and beautiful valleys, this wonderful country has something for everyone. Snowdonia National Park, situated in North Wales, boasts breathtaking mountain scenery, crystal clear lakes and cascading waterfalls. Climb Snowdon, which at 1085m is Wales’ highest mountain, or travel to the summit in style on the charming Mountain Railway. Alternatively, why not sample the beautiful green valley of Llangollen by steam train or from a leisurely horse-drawn canal boat. In July, the annual Llangollen Eisteddfod transforms the town into a unique centre of international music and dance, attracting musicians and singers from across the globe.You could also explore the beautiful coastline, safe sandy beaches and watersports of the Lleyn Peninsula, as well as Colwyn Bay, historic Conwy, Victorian Llandudno or the Isle of Anglesey on the north coast. To the south, there’s the lovely Brecon Beacons National Park, a haven of rugged moorland, forests and mountains that’s just perfect for nature lovers and walkers. Finally, the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park is renowned for its wildlife, stunning coastal scenery, superb beaches and as the home of Britain’s smallest city, the City of St David’s.


Bala / Frongoch area

Ideally located between the beautiful lakes of Bala and Celyn, the small village of Frongoch is surrounded by the Arenig mountains. With a small shop with café, this village is renowned for the National Whitewater Centre on the River Tryweryn. The vibrant market town of Bala is just under three miles away at the head of Llyn Tegid - the largest natural lake in Wales and home to a unique fish called the Gwyniaid, which is apparently a relic of the Ice Age. The area is renowned for its outstanding water sports facilities and fishing, sailing, canoeing, windsurfing and white water rafting are all available nearby. The town boasts a range of interesting shops, inns, restaurants and an historical town walk as well as the narrow gauge Bala Lake Railway. The beautiful Snowdonia Mountain Range and the wonderful Berwyn Mountains are within easy driving distance and offer climbing, walking, mountain biking and many other outdoor activities.

Off Season Breaks (OSB) are available at many properties in parts of the 'Low' and 'Mid' periods - subject to availability. The price for a 3 night break is either 75% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. OSBs can be booked within a calendar month of the start date of the holiday.

'Last Minute Breaks' (LMB) are available at most properties throughout the 'LOW', 'MID', 'HIGH', 'PEAK', 'XMAS' and 'NEW YEAR' periods. The price for a 3 night break is either 65% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. LMBs can be booked within one week of the start date of the holiday.

Cottage was far enough out of the way to enjoy peace and quiet, but close enough to Bala for shops and eating places. Good location and a cosy cottage in very good condition. A very pleasant place to stay.
