The North Wales region

North Wales is one of the most popular regions to visit with the incredible variety that it offers its visitors from castles, outstanding gardens and houses, Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and Canal which was recently given World Heritage Status and of course the multitude of exciting activities and visitor attractions offered in the Snowdonia National Park as well as a rich cultural experience.

Sporting activities include golfing, watersports such as kayaking, canoeing, white water rafting. Also abseiling, mountain biking, cycling, walking, mountain climbing, high ropes, paintballing, quad biking to name but a few!t

Actually onsite in Bryn Melyn Farm, you have a private tennis court, a large games room/playroom with table tennis, table football, pool, snooker and darts, playing fields with goals, andpriavte fishing on the River Dee.

Also available in the area, you are well provided for in terms of local restaurants and pubs should you feel like taking a total break, including the catering!

The local pub is only 0.6 of a mile away offering food and regular live music. There is another pub within 2 miles of the farmhouse, not to mention the national award winning restaurant, Tyddyn Llan in Llandrillo. You could also enjoy a meal at the glorious Pale Hall, a Victorian Mansion within one mile of the farmhouse and now a luxurious hotel at which you could also partake of some morning coffee or afternoon tea. After all,Queen Victoria once stayed here when it was a private house and the station platform was extended at the time to receive the Royal train!

In addition to the abundance of local attraction mentioned above both locally and in the Snowdonia National Park, we ahve many facilities on site at Bryn Melyn Farm so that you don't even have to get in the car.

These include a private tennis court, a large games room/playroom with table tennis, table football, pool, snooker and darts, playing fields with goals and superb private fishing.

We have space for a marquee for about 120 guests and are currently applying for a licence to conduct weddings at the venue.

Onsite catering can be arranged for that special occasion or even if you don't feel like cooking!

For the birdwatchers amongst you, this is the ideal venue. We have a huge variety of birds to include owls which you can hear as they call to one another at night, the hypnotic call of the buzzards as they fly above the farm, and nesting in the courtyard this year 2009, we have had a redstart, a very rare and shy bird, which only goes to show what a peaceful location it is! Daily, there is an enormous variety of birds jostling for supremacy. We have a particularly well fed robin redbreast who enjoys any food left out for him on the maintenance shed! Some of our keen birdwatching guests have also enjoyed a day out to Lake Vyrnwy and its excellent birdwatching facility.

As for fishermen, you don't even have to get in the car!

We have a 3/4 mile of private fishing on the River Dee .

All you need is an Environment Agency Licence. We can offer permits for fly fishing for trout, salmon, and grayling in season.

If sailing is your passion, then Bala Lake within 5 miles or a 15 minute drive is the place for you.

Bring your own boat and park it in the parking area on the farm or hire a boat at the lakeside.

What could be easier.Other watersports are available there of course to include canoeing and kayaking. There is the white knuckle experience of white water rafting at nearby Tryweryn.

The annual Llangollen International Eisteddfod in July is within 20 minutes of the property.

There are numerous local eisteddfods [competitive festivals for the Arts] and our local Llandderfel Eisteddfod takes place on Good Friday every year.

There are sheepdog trials locally which were once made famous by the TV programme 'One Man and His Dog'

An International Sheepdog Trial winner lives locally and offers the opportunity to watch him and his dogs working.

They also offer quad biiking and other activities at the farm including watching the pet lambs beign fed in season.

There are a number of Male Voice Choirs in the area and it may be possible to go and watch a rehearsal.

The National Eisteddfod of Wales is in Wrexham in 2011 - you may have missed it this year 2009 in Bala, and of course, your International Opera Singer hostess adjudicating!

The Vaenol Festival organised and promoted by the International Opera Singer, Bryn Terfel, takes place at the end of August and is about an hour's drive from the farmhouse.

Nearer to Bryn Melyn of course there is an abundance of sporting activities including private fishing on the Dee,white water rafting, sailing, canoeing, kayaking, abseiling, climbing, high ropes,4x4,walking, cycling, mountain biking, horseriding and golf.

On site,we can arrange for a mobile Holistic Therapist to visit you during your holiday for Aromatherapy, Reflexology,Swedish Body Massage and Indian Head Massage.

"Wonderful stay at Bryn Melyn Farm"

This was our first experience of self catering holiday homes since our just turned one year old wouldn't have appreciated a Premier Inn room!

I was apprehensive as to how it would be at first but I needn't have worried, Bryn Melyn and Y Granar is a wonderful place.

Y Granar, as a bedroom and bathroom downstairs and a double length living room upstairs. The entire property was spotlessly clean, even in places where you'd expect a bit of dust to gather, there was none.

The whole place looked like it had been newly refurbished last week! Everything immaculate with an excellent kitchen, with all the dishes and cutlery you could ever want and a big dishwasher and washing machine.

The bed was very comfortable and we had a good nights sleep every night.

The complex itself is excellent with 4 small cottages and one big one and the big farmhouse, where I think the owner stays when it isn't rented out. But we didn't have any disturbance from other guests as there weren't any! No other cars parked and no sign of anyone else the entire time we were there so we had the place to ourselves!

The grounds consist of a large grassy area and a central courtyard and there is a walk down to the tennis court, and AFAIK you can make use of the garden of the farmhouse although I did feel like we were in someone elses front garden!

The only downside was in the morning after my wife had a shower and bathed the baby there was no hot water left for me to get showered too! But this doesn't stop me giving 5 stars and thoroughly recommending Bryn Melyn to anyone.

"Excellent party weekend"

What a lovely place, well equipped cottage with good facilities. Enjoyed a enjoyable weekend celebrating our friend's 50th birthday. The whole complex had been rented for a large group of friends and we all had a great weekend. Such a lovely setting.

"Weekend to Remember!!"

We hired out all 5 of the cottages and enjoyed every minute of it! The place is isolated with a nice pub 5 minutes down the road.

The cottages were all very clean with modern furnishings, and the main cottage was a good size for our group (25 people).

Eirian was a great host, who left us to enjoy the surroundings and was quick to help out when we had questions.

We had a few issues finding the place initially, but this was down to the Sat nav directions not taking us directly to the place. We were advised before we set off to make sure we had printed instructions, which got us there safe and sound.

We arrived late on Friday, but Eirian was still around to show us the property. Throughly enjoyed our stay there, and would definitely recommend it to friends and relatives.
