Y Granar
About the home
With its striking open plan sitting room/dining room and kitchen on the 1st floor, the Granary at Fferm Bryn Melyn Farm offers luxurious accommodation in beautiful surroundings in the Upper Dee Valley.Using a comfortable mix of traditional and modern, the interior design of this propery certainly has a 'wow' factor.I have spent much time ensuring that everything that will make your holiday special, is here for you in Y Granar, from the dishwasher and washing machine to the fridge freezer, microwave, ceramic hob and electric over, from the Satellite TV to the DVD player and CD/Radio, and in your bedroom and bathroom, fabulous bedlinen and towels for your use and complimentary bathroom toiletries.
The oak beams are a particular feature of this barn cottage as is the sunlight that floods into the glorious sitting room. There is a small balcony off this sitting room where one can enjoy the wonderful views.
The romantic bedroom with its King Size bed and adjoining bathroom with separate shower are on the ground floor together with a hallway and door onto the courtyard. As a very amateur photographer, it has been difficult to capture the true effect of this wonderful holiday cottage. If you would like, the sofa bed in the sitting room can be used so that the cottage accommodates 4 people.
Whether you choose to have an activity filled holiday, or just to hide away in this area of outstanding beauty and tranquillity, its all here for you at Bryn Melyn Farm.
There is private fishing on the River Dee within a short walk of the farm, abundant walks in the immediate area, a playroom with table tennis, pool, snooker, table football and darts, and a tennis court on site, a fabulous communal garden with panoramic views over the Dee Valley, which you can admire at your leisure from the garden furniture provided.A barbecue can also be provided. If a relaxing holiday is what you need, there is no need to move from the farm - just feast your eyes on the incredible scenery and be transported!

Also available in the area, you are well provided for in terms of local restaurants and pubs should you feel like taking a total break, including the catering!
The local pub is only 0.6 of a mile away offering food and regular live music. There is another pub within 2 miles of the farmhouse, not to mention the national award winning restaurant, Tyddyn Llan in Llandrillo. You could also enjoy a meal at the glorious Pale Hall, a Victorian Mansion within one mile of the farmhouse and now a luxurious hotel at which you could also partake of some morning coffee or afternoon tea. After all,Queen Victoria once stayed here when it was a private house and the station platform was extended at the time to receive the Royal train!
The Bala / Bryn Melyn area
In addition to the abundance of local attraction mentioned above both locally and in the Snowdonia National Park, we ahve many facilities on site at Bryn Melyn Farm so that you don't even have to get in the car.
These include a private tennis court, a large games room/playroom with table tennis, table football, pool, snooker and darts, playing fields with goals and superb private fishing.
We have space for a marquee for about 120 guests and are currently applying for a licence to conduct weddings at the venue.
Onsite catering can be arranged for that special occasion or even if you don't feel like cooking!
For the birdwatchers amongst you, this is the ideal venue. We have a huge variety of birds to include owls which you can hear as they call to one another at night, the hypnotic call of the buzzards as they fly above the farm, and nesting in the courtyard this year 2009, we have had a redstart, a very rare and shy bird, which only goes to show what a peaceful location it is! Daily, there is an enormous variety of birds jostling for supremacy. We have a particularly well fed robin redbreast who enjoys any food left out for him on the maintenance shed! Some of our keen birdwatching guests have also enjoyed a day out to Lake Vyrnwy and its excellent birdwatching facility.
As for fishermen, you don't even have to get in the car!
We have a 3/4 mile of private fishing on the River Dee .
All you need is an Environment Agency Licence. We can offer permits for fly fishing for trout, salmon, and grayling in season.

We hired out all 5 of the cottages and enjoyed every minute of it! The place is isolated with a nice pub 5 minutes down the road. The cottages were all very clean with modern furnishings, and the main cottage was a good size for our group (25 people). Eirian was a great host, who left us to enjoy the surroundings and was quick to help out when we had questions. We had a few issues finding the place initially, but this was down to the Sat nav directions not taking us directly to the place. We were advised before we set off to make sure we had printed instructions, which got us there safe and sound. We arrived late on Friday, but Eirian was still around to show us the property. Throughly enjoyed our stay there, and would definitely recommend it to friends and relatives. |
