Set in Snowdonia National Park, Glan Hesgin is a traditional detached three-bedroom stone cottage ten minutes walk away from Canolfan Tryweryn - The National Whitewater Centre. The property is approached by a farm track leading up the hillside above the River Tryweryn. Sheltered by the valley, the back garden is both secluded and private, bordered by a bubbling mountain stream. There are beautiful walks from the doorstep and within a few miles Bala provides a variety of shops and further watersports on the lake.
Sorry - no pets allowed. No smoking at this property. Also, please be aware that the back garden is rocky and uneven in places, sloping down beyond a fence with gates and stile to a stream. Younger children will need supervision.

The cottage is located in Snowdonia National Park (www.eryri-npa.co.uk), covering 823 square miles of the most beautiful and unspoilt countryside in North Wales, including Snowdon itself - the highest mountain in England and Wales. The Snowdon mountain railway and various walks to the summit are an hour away by car.
Even closer to the cottage are a range of attractions including: - Ffestiniog narrow-gauge railway to the harbour at Porthmadog (www.ffestiniograilway.co.uk) - Llechwedd Slate Caverns (www.llechwedd-slate-caverns.co.uk) - Llangollen, home of the International Musical Eisteddfod (www.international-eisteddfod.co.uk) - Rhug Organic Farm (www.rhug.co.uk) which hosts possibly the only bison herd in Wales!
Bala area
Shorter walks and longer hikes including to the top of Carnedd y Filiast (669m high) begin at the cottage doorstep. Many other hikes in the National Park are available within a short car drive away.
Canolfan Tryweryn - the National Whitewater Centre - is within 10 minutes walk of the cottage. The Centre offers whitewater rafting and a host of other adventure activities (www.ukrafting.co.uk).
The cottage is 6km from Bala, situated at the northern end of Lake Bala (Llyn Tegid) in the Snowdonia National Park in North Wales. Bala provides local shops and places to eat, and is an ideal centre for sightseeing, walking, sailing, wind surfing, canoeing, mountain biking and fishing. Rheilffordd Llyn Tegid (Bala Lake Railway) offers a delightful return steam railway journey alongside the lake (www.bala-lake-railway.co.uk). Bala Golf Course provides 10 holes of golf with scenic views of the area (www.golffbala.co.uk).
How to get there
Glan Hesgin is located a few minutes walk from the National Whitewater Centre (www.ukrafting.co.uk) which is approximately 6km north-west of Bala in North Wales - from Bala follow the A4212 towards Trawsfynydd. There is limited public transport in the area and therefore a car is regarded as essential to reach the cottage.
Manchester and Liverpool airports and the ports of Liverpool and Holyhead are all less than 130km away and accessible within a couple of hours by car. The nearerst mainline railway stations are Bangor, Chester, Aberystwyth and Shrewsbury, however please note that these are all at least 70km away. The closest regional raliway station is Blaenau Ffestiniog which is 29km distant.
