My family, friends and I stayed at Bryn Melyn over the weekend of my 60th Birthday, and what a fantastic place it proved to be for this special occasion.
There were 26 of us staying at the farm, and we rented the whole venue,- Farmhouse and five cottage. All the properties were spotlessly clean, beautifully furnished, very well equipped, spacious and homely.
On the Friday evening some of us went to a Michelin starred restaurant, two miles from the Bryn Melyn. After a wonderful meal, a taxi was arranged to take us back to the farm.
We chose to hold the main celebrations on Saturday, and although Eirian the owner, was more than happy to arranged the farmhouse Dining Room to seat all 26 of us, we opted to eat out so that everyone could relax. We invited more friends to join us for Champagne and Hors D'Oeuvres at the Farmhouse on Saturday evening, before all 50 of us moved on to a local restaurant, half a mile away for a lovely meal. It was a truly memorable day.
For the rest of the weekend, we just stayed at the Farm, relaxing, enjoying its comforts, the peace and tranquility, the fantastic scenery and the amazing gardens. Some of the more energetic among us took to playing football and some very competitive games of Snooker and Table Tennis in the Games Room!
Without doubt, this is THE best self-catering property we've ever stayed at. The owner was always friendly and helpful, the location and surrounding areas are truly beautiful, the facilities are excellent, and as for the accommodation and grounds, - WOW!

"Brilliant and Beautiful"
Having stayed here on two previous occasions, I decided that Bryn Melyn was where I wanted to spend my 50th birthday weekend with close friends.
I booked the five courtyard cottages for 20 of us. All the cottages are amazing,- tastefully furnished, fully equipped, immaculate and cosy. One of the cottages, "Y Granar", has a large oak-beamed open-plan Kitchen/Diner/Lounge, and Eirian, our ever-helpful and friendly host, had arranged this beautiful room with additional tables and chairs which enabled us all to congregate here to wine, dine, lounge and reminisce together!
On the Friday evening, we walked 1/2 mile to the local pub and had a great meal in front of the open fire.
Eirian had put me in touch with a local catering company, so for Saturday eve, they came in to serve us with a lovely three course meal, AND they did all the clearing and washing up!... Downton Abbey in Snowdonia!
To work off the excess intake of calories and alcohol, we made full use of the on-site facilities. Whilst we lads played 5-a-side football, the gals took to the all-weather tennis court for some tennis and lots of giggling! The Games Room is always a big hit, and some very competitive games of Table Tennis and Snooker ensued.
What a wonderful and memorable weekend; - fine food, fun and frivolity with my fantastic friends at fabulous Fferm Bryn Melyn Farm.
NO ONE wanted to leave,- we will definitely be back again. Thank you Eirian.

"Fantastic facilities in a wonderful place. The best we have ever seen!"
We organised a weekend for a group of families, taking over the courtyard cottages ( 5 in all) for a long anticipated get together. We have done this several times before, but this was our first stay … More

"There's nowhere better to unwind and explore with friends, I can't reccomend it highly enough."
I recently returned to Bryn Melyn having got married there in 2008. We stayed in 'Y Gadlas' cottage with our son, two friends and their dog. It is such a beautiful setting, there really is something truly magical about it. We were greeted with an incredibly warm welcome (including a fantastic basket of essentials!) and then left to our own devices, safe in the knowledge that the owner was on hand for any help or advice that we needed. We've stayed in many self catering cottages over the years as a couple, and none have come close to the standard of Bryn Melyn. The cottage was immaculate, homely, with everything we could need including great access directly onto a communal garden which was perfect for the dog.
We took some beautiful recommended walks around the local area, aswel as venturing to Snowdonia and taking a wonderful steam train ride from Blaenau Ffestiniog. Although we didn't always have the best weather, we knew we had a warm and cosy 'home from home' to go back to. We cooked every night in the cottage - we really didn't feel the need to be anywhere else. It was a truly fabulous way to unwind and escape from the reality of London life! (not to mention a great chance to polish my table tennis skills!) If there's something not to be missed in 2012, it's a trip to this gorgeous retreat.
