About the home

Cartref Cottage is situated in the grounds of a large house in the hamlet of Rhosygwaliau,
one and a half miles from Bala Lake.

There is an open plan kitchen / diner / lounge, a shower room and a bedroom with one double
and one single bed. An extra pull out bed is also available. Bed linen is provided, but you will need
to bring your own towels.The kitchen is fully equipped including a microwave, toaster, washer dryer, iron (and board).

There is private parking and the bustling market town of Bala is two minutes away by car.The cottage is centrally heated, and is a non smoking property. One small dog is welcome
(by prior arrangement).Cycle hire is available in Bala and we can offer indoor cycle storage.

A selection of board games, xbox and DVDs are kept in the cottage.

The cottage is an ideal base for exploring North Wales, as well as the beautiful local area. Within 40 minutes drive is the beautiful Cardigan Bay Coast, or the impressive mountain of Snowdon itself.

Located in the large garden of a family house, in a quiet, scenic location. Exterior seating is provided outside the cottage to enjoy the garden.
Car parking space is provided in the garden itself.

The cottage is rented on a weekly basis, from Saturday to Saturday.
Guests are welcome to arrive after 3pm on their day of arrival. We kindly ask guests to vacate by 10am on their departure (for servicing).

The North Wales / Snowdonia/Gwynedd region

The hamlet of Rhosygwaliau is situated at the confluence of the rivers Hirnant (meaning long stream) and Cymerig. The immediate area has lots of mediaeval history and heritage.

Bala Lake (known locally as Llyn Tegid) is famous for its range of watersports- but local bye-laws prevent motor boats so the foreshore is not deafened by the roar of speeding engines.

Fishing is popular- trout, perch, grayling and pike are often caught, but Gwyniad, a fish found only in the depths of this lake - and linked to prehistoric creatures are rarely seen.

Walking and cycling locally are a wonderful way of exploring the rural lanes and paths, and by car you are rarely more than an hour away from any North Wales attraction:
Cardigan Bay Coast and sandy beaches.

The Bala area

Bala is instantly recognisable by the tree-lined, broad High street that stretch towards the four mile long lake, at the South Western side of the town.

The main street is always busy with a multitude of cafes, restaurants, traditional trading shops including two award winning butchers.

Two miles north of Bala is The White Water Centre,- great for an adrenaline boosting ride down the rapids in an inflatable raft.

The lake near town is a little more peaceful, and used during the summer months by sailors, windsurfers, canoeists or just for paddling or splashing about -the eastern end of the lake is shallow and safe.

Bala golf course is located half a mile from the town centre, and due to its elevated location has absolutely amazing views of the lake and surrounding area.

By car.
On arrival at Bala, leave the town on the B4391. After one and a half miles take the right turn at the crest of the hill towards Lake Vyrnwy. The quiet hamlet of Rhosygwaliau is just over half a mile along the scenic lane. Cartref Cottage is the third property on the right (opposite the telephone kiosk).

By bus
Bala is on the Wrexham to Barmouth Arriva bus route, with links to Chester, Shrewsbury and further afield by train. Local car hire is available- contact us for further information.

“Excellent Location with superb views” Very tidy cottage with all amenities. Owners very friendly and non-intrusive. Quiet location not far from Bala Lake. Would recommend this cottage to friends and family.
