Home description
If you are looking for seclusion, wonderful views and top quality fittings and furnishings in a truly beautiful stone property with real character set in the fabulous Derbyshire Dales and Peak District, then look no further, Bumble Bee Barn is the perfect holiday destination for you.
Bumble Bee Barn is a beautifully recently converted detached barn set in glorious gardens in a quiet hamlet mid-way between Matlock and Bakewell. It nestles just below Stanton Moor with the 9 Ladies Stone Circle and is the perfect get-away for couples seeking a romantic, tranquil and secluded break away from it all in a wonderful country setting and yet only ten minutes away from the country towns of Bakewell and Matlock.
The lovely stone property which is 5 star, faces south with French doors from the large dining/sitting room opening onto a private patio (with table and chairs) overlooking the garden, ponds and adjoining land, with fabulous views up the valley towards the moor and also over to a wonderful wooded hillside which is sensational in autumn. The whole area is rich in wildlife, and you will often see the local deer grazing from your windows. This location is a bird-watchers’ paradise with pheasants and numerous wild birds including woodpeckers, especially the Greater Spotted Woodpecker, all the Tit family, Finches and the majestic Buzzard all to be seen from the gardens.
Great attention has been paid to every detail for your self-catering needs but no doubt you will also wish to try the local country pubs and restaurants in the area and there are many – full details will be provided of personally tried and tested ones when you book.
Short breaks are booked over weekends and weekdays during the autumn, winter and early spring so you can get away from the city and work and have a relaxing break to recharge your batteries.

Bakewell is a market town and there is a wonderful market on a Monday which is well worth a visit. Bakewell is also full of antique and gift shops, cafes, tea shops and various pubs and restaurants. You can walk alongside the lovely River Derwent with its ducks and trout. Bakewell is famous for its Bakewell Puddings which are absolutely delicious and a must for visitors. A large Country Show is held in August and there is also a big Carnival during the summer.
The old steam train station of Peak Rail is less than a mile away and for those a little more adventurous, you will find excellent facilities for horse-riding and trips in a carriage and four. Walkers will love the area with walking direct from the door or within a short drive.
