The Heart of England/Peak District

Over Haddon, is situated just over 2 miles south-west of Bakewell .The name Haddon means Heath Hill, the Over relating to being above Nether Haddon (Haddon Hall). It is probably one of Derbyshire's prettiest villages, with an assortment of houses and cottages mainly built of limestone, typical of the White Peak. It's an ideal location for a holiday, just 2 miles from the bustling market town of Bakewell and a short drive to the world famous stately home of Chatsworth and the regal spa town of Buxton. Within 200 yards of Rustic Barn is the Lathkil Hotel with the most spectacular and panoramic views of any pub in the Peak District and serving excellent food.

The village, has an idyllic setting, nestling on a ridge high above Lathkill Dale which stretches like a deep dark chasm toward Monyash in the west whilst opening out into a lush green dale with a succession of weirs as the river flows downstream towards Alport.

"Pleasant stay at Rustic Barn"

The property is comfortable enough despite lacking a few "finishing touches" like towel rail in the bathrooms or anything to hang your towels or clothes on. The kitchen and dining room are … More

Thank you for your feedback. There is a towel rail in the downstairs bathroom but not currently in the upstairs one which we will look into. The kitchen/dining room is being extended slightly in October but I will add that you had 6 people staying in the cottage and we only recommend a maximum of 5 including children. Saying that, we are a family of 6 and all manage comfortably. I'm glad you enjoyed Over Haddon and the surrounding area. You are right it is beautiful. I will also add, that where possible, as we did for you, we will allow guests access to the cottage as early as possible on the day of arrival and as late as possible when leaving. This isn't always possible especially when we have a change over on the same day but we always try to be as flexible as we can. We hope to see you back in Over Haddon soon.

Glad you enjoyed your stay. The cot is not best suited in the small bedroom but fits perfectly in the main bedroom. Ideally the cottage sleeps 5, maybe six with a baby in the cot. We will ensure any future guests are aware of this.

"Just gorgeous!"

Simply beautiful... from the setting to the finishing touches. A lovely cottage with a real cosy, homely feel; so much so that we didn't want to leave! Stayed with our three young children and had everything we could possibly need. Highly recommend, and can't wait to return.

Thank you very much for your kind review. We hope to see you again soon
