The Heart of England/Peak District

The Peak District and Derbyshire is a contrast of high rolling moorland, craggy outcrops and picture post card vales and valleys with ‘chocolate box' villages. The whole area is dominated by Britain's first national park; The Peak District National Park which has been catering for visitors for many years. It's easy to get around with a good network of roads and excellent public transport. There are many places of interest including some lovely towns and villages such as Bakewell, Buxton and Ashbourne as well as historical attractions like Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall. To the north of the region is the High Peak, with miles of heather moorland and great country walks and cycling.

Barn Cottage is situated opposite a footpath to the river Wye in Chee Dale, perfect for a gentle stroll in the countryside, and is located in the small farming village of Wormhill. Wormhill is located close to Millers Dale and the River Wye and is characterised by the small hamlets which lie under the wings of its parish. Boasting a traditional village green and surrounded by the rolling dales, including Chee Dale, Miller's Dale and Peter Dale, visitors can be assured of some excellent walking and cycling opportunities in this beautiful area. The popular Spa town of Buxton is a short drive away, with its Pavilion Gardens and famous opera house offering much to entertain the visitor. The peaceful market town of Bakewell is also nearby, with its historic houses, riverside walks and a number of interesting shops, pubs and restaurants for visitors to sample. Chatsworth House and Haddon hall are also both within easy reach. Those feeling a little more adventurous can also visit popular attractions such as the Heights of Abraham and Gulliver's Kingdom in the Matlock area, both of which are within a short driving distance from Wormhill.
