Victorian Stair Case leads to The First Floor

Go up the main staircase to the first floor where there are 5 bedrooms (4 en suite) and 1 sitting room/TV room (this can double as an extra bedroom if required) and one shared bathroom.

Opposite is a fabulous bath, shower room and toilet. Stand-alone bath, large walk in shower all beautifully tiled with under floor heating beneath making this a super bathroom for all to use.

The sitting room/TV room at the top of the stairs has sofas and armchairs making this a great place for a quiet read and relaxation. The Heart of England/Peak District

The Peak District is an area of great natural beauty with rugged, peat-covered moorlands and magnificent limestone dales (great for walking and cycling, as well as other, more dangerous sports), plus picturesque villages and some interesting towns. It is the location of Britain's first National Park - the Peak District National Park, which is the the world's second most visited National Park.

The Peak District has numerous interesting and exciting tourist attractions Probably the chief among these is Chatsworth House - a magnificent house set in a landscaped park which is the home of the Dukes of Devonshire - major landowners in the area. This is followed by Haddon Hall outside Bakewell - the home of the Manners family, who are the Dukes of Rutland - is a beautifully preserved medieval manor house.

The Peak District is a fine place for outdoor activities such as walking and cycling, and each week and especially at weekends, many thousands of people come here to enjoy these activities.

There are numerous interesting towns to explore. Buxton is the one with the longest history, having been founded by the Romans, who exploited the warm spring water to build thermal baths, for which the town became very popular in the 18th and 19th centuries. As a result it has some magnificent buildings, notably the Georgian Crescent and the Opera House. It now has a thriving music and arts festival each summer.

Bakewell was founded in Saxon Times and is the home of the Peak District National Park Authority and is a busy market town notable for its livestock market.

"Brilliant venue for small wedding celebration and weekend stay"

We held a humanist wedding celebration in the lounge/dining room and had family and friends staying over the weekend. Everyone thought the house was very good. The kitchen is exceptionally well appointed and we had some great meals together with different table combinations. Justin was great, even getting in champagne glasses for us. The views from the upper floors are particularly good and Monsal Head is a great base for walking, cycling and touring.

"What an amazing house!"

We spent a weekend at Cliff House for my sister's hen weekend. We were 20 girls who had planned a classy weekend away and Cliff House fitted the bill perfectly. Every part of the experience was fantastic, from making the initial enquiry, the helpfulness of the owners throughout the planning (every one of my silly questions were answered so efficiently) to the arrival, the stay and even the departure (when Justin helped us start our car). The house is amazing, so spacious and fully equipped for every eventuality (there were no waiting lines for bathrooms and we were able to make cocktails and a 3 course meal effortlessly). To top it all off, the location and views are fantastic. I would not hesitate to recommend Cliff House and will be booking one of their other houses in the autumn for my husbands 40th.

"Excellent House"

We've just had a great long weekend at Cliff House.
We are a large group of friends who have a weekend away together every year.
Cliff House is lovely. It has excellent lounges and a beautiful dining room. The kitchen is very smart and well equipped for large groups. All the bathrooms are new and the beds are very comfortable.
It's an ideal venue for groups. There are good local pubs within a short walk and the house sits at Monsal Head next to the trail which is ideal for walks or cycle rides.

"Amazing house"

We usually meet up as a group of old university friebds once a year and finding a cottage for >20 can be a challenge. Cliff House however exceeded all our previous experiences and expectations.

The house is beautifully decorated in a good mix of modern furniture but preserving the old Victorian features. The house was warm with underfloor heating and being able to regulate temp in each room was great especially as it was a cold november. The rooms were done to a high spec so the first time it felt like we were in a home away from home.
It was just so comfortable.

The owners (from my friends) liasing with them seemed really pleasant and chilled out. It was also great to be told dont need to strip beds and keep cottage clean but not spotless. All things we would do if needed but sometimes when your leaving a place for holiday you dont want to finnish it cleaning to spotlessness and stripping beds. It felt like the owners appreciated our need for a good relaxing break.

The kitchen is so impressive and great to relax and chat in.

The location near Monsal trail and Bakewell was perfect. With Chatworths only 7miles away.

"Stunning location, stunning views, stunning house, stunning people"

We booked Cliff House to accommodate a group get together for my partner's 40th birthday celebrations. With people up and down the country, we wanted somewhere central for everyone to meet. The group (30 people in total) consisted of families, couples and single friends, with children ranging from 6 months to 11 years. From initial enquiries, through to departure the booking team and property owners were so welcoming and accommodating.
The location was truly amazing, and we certainly made the most of it, by taking part in walks around and about, even a visit to the local pub (beer garden) who were also very warm and welcoming to groups (with muddy boots).
The house it's self was such a stunning house, fantastic rooms, extremely comfortable and of a very high standard all through. After the initial excitement of discovering all the secret stairways and rooms, the children soon settled and took over the comfy lounge area, as a play room. We saw very little of them. They did venture in to the garden a couple of times, and burnt off some excess energy on the trampoline. But like the adults, they were captured by the warmth inside and cosiness the house had to offer.
Through the whole weekend, we wanted for nothing, the mass array of cupboards had everything we needed, even tin tankards that fitted in so well with our Oktoberfest themed night. It was truly worth every penny we spent.

"Wonderful house in a wonderful location"

As a big university reunion party we couldn't have been made more welcome. It really is an incredible place with the highest spec equipment in the most amazing location. Handy for great local pubs and walking but also in our case for revisiting Sheffield on your doorstep.
