About the home
The cottage is next to the owner's property, a Grade II listed house on the edge of the village with excellent pug, bistro, children's play area, Historic Church within a few minutes walk. Surrounded by gently rolling country side and close to the Market Town of Bakewell with a wide range of shops, restaurants, pubs, swimming pool and everyday amenities.
The cottage is fully equipped for self catering. Private parking, use of garden areas, heated Drying Room, BBQ facilities, DVD Library. Sheldon Cottage has the added bonus of a log burning stove, its own sitting area. A well behaved dog welcome in this Cottage by prior arrangement.
A welcome pack of tea and coffee, milk, eggs, home-made cake or biscuits an a jar of marmalade is provided. Short terms breaks (min 2 days) considered subject to availability.

The Heart of England / Peak District / Peak District/Derbyshire region
This is an extensive farming region with interesting field patterns, lime and gritstone walls and dramatic changes in the contours of the land which attracts walkers, cyclists and climbers.
Monsall Head, the Craggs at Burbage Edge near Hathersage and White Edge close to Froggatt and Curbar provide a good challenge even for keen walkers.
Many historic country houses and estates, lovely off the beaten track villages and hamlets to explore. Large reservoirs, meandering rivers (watersports and fishing) complete the picture.
The Bakewell / Monyash area
To view Historic houses: Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Hardwick Hall, Tissington Estate, Calke Abbey, Sudbury Hall and Melbourne Halls
Sports: Golf Courses :Bakewell, Matlock, Buxton, Ashbourne, Sickleholme and others within 20 mile radius
Sailing: Carsington Water and other reservoirs. Riding, fishing, hang gliding and rockclimbing.
Interesting places: Castleton Caves, Eyam village, Buxton Opera House, Matlock Bath with Gulliver's Kingdom, cable cars and Heights of Abraham, Crich Tramway Museum, Cromford and Arkwright Mills, Alton Towers. Locally, ancient sites such as Arbor Low and the remains of Magpie Mine, lead mining relic (Sheldon House was once the Pay House for this mine). Wild moorland and Kinder Scout. The ares is a bird watchers paradise.
Summer time Well Dressings and Flower Festivals in the villages, Monyash Well Dressing is held over the late May Bank Holiday.
Farmers Markets. Bakewell and Chatsworth shows - August and September.
Good eating houses, pubs, restaurants, cafes are throughout the region.
Ancient trees (including a Hawthorne in our garden) and wood and parkland walks.

From the West head towards Ashbourne or Buxton (A515) or from Chesterfield to the East via A619 to Bakewell.
Monyash is 5 miles West of this attractive Market Town and is well signed.
East Midlands and Manchester Airports are approx 1 hr away.

What a find! All the comforts of home in a wonderful setting. Thank you for all the little extras, the eggs and cake were delicious.
We couldn't believe our luck. Very short notice and the best equipped holiday cottage we have stayed in. We hope to come back for a longer stay.
