The property is 2 bedrooms, and the master bedroom is open plan mezzanine to make one large bedroom (with en-suite) that offers privacy, and looks down onto the living area. Downstairs is an open plan kitchen, living/dining area, together with a shower room. The second bedroom (two single beds) is towards the rear of the property. The lounge (and terrace outside) have beautiful bay sea views. Upstarts at the mezzanine level (the master bedroom) which also has cracking sea & bay views, plus en-suite bathroom. All furnished tastefully and is perfect for beach side living.
The property is perfect for young couples (with or without kids), honeymooners (its very romantic in the evening!), as well as couples looking to relax and take in the beautiful bay views. We have had golf groups staying and love being close to the course, the sea and the bars & restaurants (2+ minutes away).
We have a young toddler and the property is perfectly located so when he is having a mid day nap, we can still enjoy the pool outside as its all with hearing distance!
|Further details outdoors|
The property flanks one of the developments swimming pools (which is hardly used) so we have found that we can enjoy the pool plus our apartment without having to lock everything away. We always live outdoors and love the fact we have everything at our fingertips! The flexibility of being able to enjoy the pool whilst the baby is sleeping in his bedroom was also invaluable!
We have a full time key holder (Paul and Chris) who are more then happy to stock the fridge before you arrive, and give any local tips!
The Kyrenia District
North Cyprus is around 40 miles from the Turkish mainland and outside the eurozone offering fantastic value. It is a hidden gem brimming with Crusader castles, wildflowers, unspoiled beaches and laid-back charm - with an average of 340 days of sunshine a year. Spring flowers including rare wild orchids and cyclament are out in abundance in March/April/May in the quieter Turkish side of Cyprus, that's slightly time-warped, but in a good way, without the over-development of many other Mediterranean destinations.
Here visitors follow in the footsteps of St. Paul to the well-preserved Roman city of Salamis with its stunning beaches, or take in the views from St. hilarion Castle, where Richard the Lionheart is said to have honeymooned.
Most will head to the beautiful ruined 13th century abbey in the ambrosial village of Bellapais, made famous by the writer Lawrence Durrell in his 1957 novel Bitter Lemons of Cyprus.
Kyrenia, is just 25 mins from the villa. Here in the harbour, a horseshoe of converted carob warehouses now house restaurants serving Turkish mezes and kebabs at outdoor tables on the quay - a beguiling scene in the sunshine with colourful fishing boats bobbing alongside. A boat ride is a must to see the dolphins
East of Kyrenia and its Venetian castle, forested hills make way for the slender "panhandle" of land known as the Karpaz Peninsula, a glorious natural wilderness fringed by deserted golden sandy beaches, so spectacular with its pure golden sand and stunning aspect. Karpaz is famously home to 500 wild donkeys and visited in summer by rare loggerhead and green turtles. Peter Lewis, brother of John Lewis has built a new marina there which is fantastic but not quite finished, easy new road from the villa direct to the marina, takes around 55 mins, also a visit to Bogaz whilst you are in that area, a lovely harbour village.
At Alagadir beach (just a few minutes drive from the villa) they can be seen from huffing and puffing up the beaches to lay their eggs 40 cm deep in the sand, with hatchlings make their way into the sea from July to September - you can make arrangements at this much protected site to watch the turtles at night laying their eggs, an absolutely unmissable event for all the family (but you must be quiet)!
For the children especially - pop across the field to the Esentepe Marina and watch the local fisherman feed the huge turtles that come every morning for their fishy treats- quite spectacular and the kids love it!
There are some amazing restaurants near the villa, too many to mention.
Esentepe village has,a good supermarket, restaurants etc but is situated up a very steep hill so only accessible by car. There are plenty of restaurants within a few minutes drive and the Golf Club is really good value and really luxurious, just a 10 minute drive sway. There is a new Indian Restaurant just a few minutes further down the main road called Jashan, this is fantastic, the food is really good and reasonable. The spa is also very, very good with massage and lots of treatments, just ask for their special deals, we had a full body massage, use of all their facilities including their jacuzzi AND either lunch or dinner in the evening with wine for £50 each, it was superb value and the al la carte dinner and wine were excellent!
The Golf club looks like a Palace, it is so magnificent you cannot believe its a golf club, all marble and beautiful sitting out areas with uninterrupted views of the mountains, sea and surrounding countryside. Do not miss this even if it is just to go up and have a coffee. You are allowed in, no problem.
There is a water sport centre called Vogue about a ten minute drive away not far past Esentepe village turning, it also has a lovely beach, a large club and lively cabaret in the season. Also an outside disco. The ACULPULCO casino and hotel (you cannot miss it you pass it every time you go to Kyrenia).......is the best beach, the biggest outdoor pool I have ever seen, separate one with big slides etc for children, big play park for children too! restaurant on the beach, a massive Jacuzzi, its stunning and you could easily spend every day there, there is a small charge to go in but you get a bed and umbrella and all the facilities are free, there is also volleyball and tennis courts etc... Suggest you take a picnic as the food and drink is quite expensive but a truly wonderful place!
One of the most enjoyable days for us was our boat trip, at Kyrenia harbour there are catamarans going out for trips, we saw loads of Dolphins and lovely sights and enjoyed a really good meal on board for around £20 each.

"Fantastic apartment, gorgeous location"
We had a fabulous stay in this apartment - I booked it for a week for a holiday with my partner and my 13-year-old daughter, and it was perfect for a family break. The apartment was large and airy and spotlessly clean, with a sea view to die for. There was a pool just a few steps from the apartment - it was shared with others but we rarely saw anyone else there, so pretty much had it all to ourselves for the whole week.
The apartment was well stocked and nicely designed, with great kitchen facilties and modern fixtures. The beds were comfy and it was cool and airy - we didn't need to turn on the aircon even though it was 28 to 30 degrees all week. The complex is quite and well managed, and an easy 20 minute drive from the centre of Kyrenia. There is a grocery store nearby, and the locals were friendly and helpful.
We spent our week exploring Northern Cyprus, including a drive down the panhandle, a trip to St Hilarion castle (amazing) and a fantastic day boat trip from Kyrenia harbour. There's a pebbly beach a few minutes walk from the apartment, but actually we preferred the flat rock spit just offshore - it's easy to walk to (if you don't mind a little rock clambering), with lots of lovely rock pools and some great snorkelling. we even carried our barbecue down there a couple of times, popped it down on the flat rock and cooked our dinner over coals whilst having a swim.
All in all this worked out a great value trip - car hire is incredibly cheap in Cyprus, and since the north isn't in the Eurozone your money seems to go further. There were lots of great restaurants nearby, but actually we were happy to eat in or by the pool most nights as it was such a great location. Highly recommended.
