Home description

The apartment is spacious and airy. Both bedrooms have a bathroom en suite. There is an extra single bed and a cot for baby. The open-plan sitting room together with kitchen leads on to terrace with garden. The house is surrounded by private woods. Castel Cellesi of Bagnoregio is an old rural village where life continues as 50 years ago. It is perfect for a relaxing holiday. Ideal for painting, walking and biking. The coast is one hour's drive and Lake Bolsena is 15 minutes away with it's lovely beaches and friendly cafes and trattorias.

All surrounding villages have local fairs all through the year, including Castel Cellesi, where you can taste local specialities. The area is famous for its wine and wine tasting trips can be organised. There are many beautiful gardens to visit nearby (Villa Lante di Bagnaia e Giardini di Caprarola). In July and August Viterbo has an opera festival and Perugia the famous Jazz festival.Orvieto has concerts. In the area there are many archaeological sites and museums dating from the Etruscan age.

The Lazio region

Lazio is the region where Rome is situated. It is an ancient region going back to Etruscan times, where the Roman empire was born. The climate is between between C°20/30 in the summer and in winter C° 5/15.

Places to visit are innumerable Rome (60 minutes by train) Tivoli, Tuscania, Tarquinia, Orvieto, Civita di Bagnoregio (La città che muore), Viterbo, Montefiascone Bolsena, Bagnaia, Caprarola, Bomarzo (the monsters garden).

These places are all easily visited on day trips not more than an hour away by car.

Bagnoregio area

During the year each village has its own festival where local specialities can be tried and also the local wine, Castel Cellesi 14, 15 &16 August marvellous firework display and dinner in square prepared by the villagers.

Bolsena: in June the Hydrangea week.
Celleno: end of May Cherry festival
Civitella d'Agliano: in July Wine festival.
Montefiaschone: July and August wine festival.
Viterbo: in June flower display and in July Opera festival, 4th of September Santa Rosa Procession and also in September Baroque Jazz Festival.
Perugia: in July Jazz festival.
Lubriano: in September wild mushroom festival
Soriano al Cimino: October chestnut festival.
Orvieto: in December Jazz festival

Airports: Roma Fiumicino (Leonardo da Vinci) 100 Km
Roma Ciampino (Lowcost flights) 100 Km
Perugia (Lowcost flights) 70 Km

Trains: From Rome Termini every two hours to ALVIANO (1 hour only with regional trains)
From Florence to ORVIETO with Intercity trains

By Motorcar: From Northern Italy Autostrada del Sole A1 exit Orvieto and after follow directions to Bagnoregio;
From Southern Italy Autostrada del Sole A1 exit Attigliano and after follow directions Graffignano, Celleno, Bagnoregio.

The house was built four years ago by a well known architect. The apartment has its own private entrance. Delicious meals can be ordered at request from our local chef, who also runs the only shop in the village.

If you would like to come and harvest the grapes from our vine, the time to come is in September early October. A meal is provided for your hard work! Or come and help pick olives in late November.

Conditions

Refundable breakages deposit of £100 required on arrival, to be refunded at moment of your departure (subject to satisfactory property inspection).

20% of rental fee due four weeks before your stay to secure booking.
