Home description
The house is full of character and charm, which provides an extremely high standard of accommodation. There are four double bedrooms spaced between the two top floors. Each of the two top floors has their own bathroom complete with a separate shower cubical. The large kitchen breakfast room is fully fitted and hosts a large 6 burner range cooker and built in appliances with a centre island which is perfect for preparing those various French meals before seating your family at our large 8 seated farmhouse dining table and chairs. The full-sized lounge gives a home from home feel, with a log burning open fire for those cosy nights. There is also a cellar which houses utility equipment and resources. The property is tastefully decorated throughout and also has a travel cot and highchair available for the younger ones.

The Normandy / Orne region
Just a five-minute drive away is La Ferte Mace, which has its local town with its own man-made beach, which has supervised swimming, pedalows and kayaks. It also has a mini golf course; Childs play area and a cafe bar for a cold ice cream, beer or soft drink. In the nearby medieval town of Domfont there is also a lot to see and do. It has cobbled streets with a large stretch of bars, restaurants, shops and boulangeries. The church of Notre Dame Sur Leau is situated in the centre of this beautiful town. In the whole of France, during the months of July and August there are many free musical events with fantastic fire work displays celebrating Bastille Day which is the 13th and 14th of July. The grand finale is on the 15th of August and is a great night for all the family.

Bagnoles de l'Orne / La Hubaudiere area
It is just a ten-minute walk to the local spa town of Bagnoles De Lorne. Bagnoles has breath-taking views over a large lake, which has pedalos available in the summer season. The town has a pretty forest surrounding which is perfect for a family stroll or just a leisurely picnic. It has buzzing restaurants/bars and boulangeries where you can pick up a traditional French stick or a homemade creamed cake. There are many shops, which supply anything from clothes to postcards. The centre has fantastic facilities for all the family including an outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts and a golf course. Next to the lake is a Casino, which provides evening entertainment. There is a huge local super market called Le Clerc with is perfect for us English filling up with Alcohol, cheeses and holiday gifts before departure.
How to get there
Caen is a ferry port which is approximatly 90 minutes north of the property. There are alternative routes and ports to travel to and from although the closest port to the French Village is Caen.The major Ferry Companies which depart regulaly to France are Brittany Ferries and P and O Ferries. Brittany ferries have regular crossings from Portsmouth to Cherbourg, St Malo or Caen. Brittany Ferries also have a daily crossing from Poole to Cherbourg . P and O do fewer crossings to France and only set sail between Dover and Calais. A useful website which advertises all possible crossings to France is www.directferries.co.uk. The local airport is alos in Caen and there are many British Airlines which fly to Caen Airport.

Further details indoors: The house is found hidden away behind trees in a small hamlet positioned in a picturesque country lane. The surrounding areas are ideal for walking and cycling whilst absorbing the tranquil views and breathing in the fresh forest air. It is very safe for children to play in the garden as there are secured large gates at the entrence and exit of the house. The are various outdoor gameing equipment provided ie badminton, cricket, paddling pool, swing ball and football. We also provide bicycles to encourage you to explore the country based surounding villages.
As of June 2009 the property will also have a hot tub!
