Built in 1968 and completely renovated by us in 2006, the house provides comfortable accommodation for families of all ages including people with limited mobility, (the 1,700 square feet of ground floor include a bedroom and a bathroom). It has a large patio on which to sit and enjoy an evening barbecue and an electric sun blind to shield you from the midday sun . The house is located close to the chateau; it is on the edge of a town which nestles in the middle of the Andaine Forest.

The town offers a wide range of activities to suit all ages, which include the casino, a golf course, 250 km of walks and cycle rides, a heated swimming pool, equestrian centres and tennis courts (both indoor and outdoor). Also on offer is a range of entertainment including firework displays, concerts, street entertainment, trotting events and local markets and many excellent restaurants.

The Normandy region

The Orne is an area with a great variety of landscapes dotted with forests, stud farms and fine castles. It is a paradise for outdoor pursuits such as horse-riding, rambling, golf and fishing. The charm and traditions of the region are well preserved. The climate is temperate and the area is green. The products of the land are: apples, pears, cheeses, beef and lamb.

Domfront, Bayeux, Jublains, Fougeres, Mont Saint-Michel, Le Mans and the Normandy beaches are all within easy reach.

Bagnoles de l'Orne

On a site chosen for its calm natural environment, with a hot spring renowned for its healing properties, a Grand Hotel and a Casino for dancing, set in a park surrounding a lake, this was the birth of the spa town known as Bagnoles de L'Orne. The town has a rare architectural heritage and is miraculously unspoilt. The healing powers of the waters of the spring have been recognised for several centuries.

A wide range of activities is offered which include a Casino, equestrian centres, indoor and outdoor tennis courts, a heated swimming pool and archery to name a few. During the summer months there is street entertainment, firework displays, trotting races. From the town it is possible to walk or cycle along 250 km of marked paths and tracks.

There is a market in the town on four days of the week and on a fifth day the market is in the town nearby.

"A great location"

A great place to stay. The house is just 10 minutes walk from the centre of town. There are many place to eat and as a spa town the town has a lovely feel.

Whilst the town is not a lively place for teenagers it has many great places to see and things to do in the near vicinity. There is horse riding, archery, golf and swimming. We went up to Mont Saint Michel ( too busy) and also ventured into the Loire. Alex and Andy were really helpful with ideas and really kind. They encouraged us to treat their house as our home during our holiday with use of table tennis and bikes a real bonus.

The house is large and spacious. It is equipped with all the key facilities and its size meant everyone could find space when they needed it.It was nice to sit out on the terrace as the sun disappeared.
