About the home

Located only 30 minutes from the walled medieaval City of Lucca, less than an hour from the beach and just 90 minutes from Florence, Podere Vitiana is situated 500M down an unmade road, in a peaceful and panoramic position on the edge of the Orrido di Botri nature reserve (where it is possible to have a guided walk of the ‘canyon’).

Some of the land is dedicated to vines, olives, fruit trees and vegetables, while the rest comprises luxuriant woodland full of all kinds of animals and numerous species of birds, including many birds of prey. This is a nature lovers’ paradise with plenty of trekking routes and is an ideal recipe for a totally peaceful holiday whilst still being close to tourist towns.

For local services, there is a bar and butchers in the village a 15 minute walk away, and just 3kms down to the main road, there are bars, bakery, pasticceria, pharmacy, restaurant, and train station for easy exploring. Supermarkets are a short drive away as well as a wider selection of restaurants.

There are two properties for rent on site, and here we are offering both together, to give a larger group a little privacy between each other, with exclusive use of the pool

The Metato is a building, and old chestnut drying house, dating to 1713 which has been lovingly restored into a little two bedroom detached house. Whilst great for a young family the property also has a romantic feel for couples…

The Nido, is a one bedroom apartment situated on the other side of the garden, and is more modern in style despite boasting beamed ceilings in the light, airy and spacious double bedroom which benefits from an en-suite shower room with WC, bidet, sink and shower cubicle

Complete with simple kitchen – oven, hob, grill, and fridge as well as space to eat

Further details outdoors:
Outside there is a private eating terrace shielded by a beautiful olive tree. A perfect place for relaxing in the shade, with privacy

In the gardens there is a pool for cooling off, pool furniture, two individual eating areas, BBQ/picnic zone, ping pong table, and bocce court (boules)

Conditions

The owners live on site, but fully respect guests privacy, whilst being on hand to assist with anything guests require. They will be able to provide you with their own olive oil and wine to purchase at a very reasonable price, and will also share the produce of their orto (allotment) with you ensuring you are never short of freshly grown salads/tomatoes in season.

The owners are also happy to cook for you on request at a very reasonable price – ideal for those evenings when you cant drag yourself from the garden…
