The Tour de France passes the gite each year and is a great event to experience - or how about attemping to cycle up the Col du Tourmalet or Col d'Aspin yourself from Gibson Grange.
Spain is only an hours drive and is great for a day out at the beautiful blue canyons.

There are activities available for everyone ranging from cycling to climbing on bolted crags or canyoning The valley is surrounded by mountains with hundreds of kilometers of mountain paths to explore and endless plantlife and wildlife to see including red kites, buzzards and vultures circling in the beautiful blue skies and marmottes up at the ski resort in the summer.
La Mongie/Bareges is the largest ski resort in the French Pyrenees with reasonably priced lift passes. It is a great place to learn to ski or snowboard and caters for all age groups. Alternatively you could have a go at cross country skiing at Payolle, with a variety of routes within the pine forest round a picturesque lake or speed down the slopes on a sledge!
