The Poitou-Charentes / Vendee / Deux Sevres region
There is easy access to the Atlantic port of La Rochelle and Ile de Re for chic seafood harbour restaurants, thalassotherapy spas, wonderful, unspoilt beaches, Aquarium, sailing and much more. For nature lovers visit the Marais Poitevin for a day of gentle punting on the canals and waterways. Nearby is the Lac du Lambon with sandy beaches and water sports. Niort and Poitiers for historic and artistic interest, boutiques and the famous theme park for the moving image - Futuroscope. Famous for Pineau des Charentes, the delightful aperitif; tastings are available at the many local producers or for something a little stronger visit Congac! The Deux Sevres is officially the second sunniest area in France after the Cote d'Azure!
Bagnault area
Closer to home, Bagnault is a beautiful medieval village on the Route du Chabichou - a gastronomique route of 200 km devoted to goats cheese dairies, organic farms and producers.
There are countless walks and cycle tracks with a wealth of wildlife and nature to explore. The area is delightful and well worth exploring for yourself. Bagnault and it's neighbouring village Exoudun has been awarded the status of "cite de caractere en Poitou-Charentes" only given to the most picturesque villages in the region.
How to get there
Fly to Poitiers via Ryanair: Exit airport right on N10 dir Niort. Exit right on D611 at Croutelle towards Niort, then D150 at Lusignan direction Melle (D150 becomes D950). Exit right on D307 at Chenay to Bagnault.
Drive from Calais: West on the A16 (dir Rouen) and then the A28 to Tours, after Tours follow the A10 south to Poitiers, exit right at Junc 30 on N10 and then D611 (dir Niort) as above.
Drive from Nantes: A83 to junc 11, stay on D611 through St Maixent L'Ecole right through town, turn right on the D737 to La Mothe St Heray, bypass La Mothe and follow signs to Exoudun then Bagnault (D611 was N11).

There is a two-bedroomed, self contained apartment (sleeps 4/5) within the house which makes it ideal for families wishing to share the accommodation. There are seven bedrooms in the property which includes the apartment. Additional put-you-up beds available if required
Further details outdoors: Lovely 9 x 5 m kidney shaped swimming pool surrounded by sun terraces and landscaped gardens. Table tennis, boules, bicycles and other games. Two barbecue areas, sun loungers, outdoor terraces and seating. The swimming pool is fenced and gated and fitted with a pool alarm that complies with regulations.
Close the gates and you are in your own world with lovely views over the river valley, sunshine all day long with the magnificent grand finale of sunsets during al fresco dining in the evening!
Further details
Garden is shared with the owners of the house when on site who reside in a second house on the property. The 2-bedroomed apartment within the main house can be rented independently subject to availability but not when included in the whole house rental.
As you can see from the pictures, part of our garden is landscaped with a waterfall, bog garden, fish ponds and secluded walkways and this area, together with the 9m x 5m swimming pool is fenced, gated and alarmed. With your children's safety and security in mind we recommend responsible adult supervision in this area. The rest of the property, together with the table tennis and boules area is secured from the outside road by double gates and walls. Families preferred but groups of "older" singles accommodated.
Conditions
1 A well-behaved dog may be allowed but sorry, no cats. 2 Strictly no smoking in the house or around the pool area. 3 Refundable security deposit of £500 to be paid with the final payment eight weeks before your holiday starts which will be refunded within two weeks of your departure (subject to satisfactory property inspection).

Payment conditions: 25% deposit required on booking. Prices are subject to change at the owners' discretion. Refundable security deposit required. There may be a winter fuel supplement levied. Payment by UK cheque is preferred, however payment can be made via PAYPAL or direct bank transfer. All fees to be paid by the renter.
Apartment is not available in peak season as it is included in the full house rental. Write or call for High and Low season apartment rates.
Peak season for 2009: June 27 to Sept 11 and Dec 19 to Jan 1. High season for 2009: April 25 to June 26 and Sept 12 to Oct 2. Low season for 2009: Jan 3 to April 24 and Oct 3 to Dec 18.
