The Salzburg Region
Bad Gastein is located in the middle of the Hohe Tauern National Park and in the heart of Salzburg province, at 1,000 meters above sea level, and at the end of the Gastein Valley after Dorfgastein and Bad Hofgastein. The town is an Austrian ski and spa town with a distinctive and unique old style, thanks to its beautiful "Belle Époque" buildings, and while it blends harmoniously into its natural Alpine setting, it provides all the comforts and entrainment to meet the taste of the modern holidaymakers. Relaxation and regeneration in pure mountain air, combined with an ideal alpine climate and water from Gastein’s hot springs, provide an exceptional escape for guests who expect the very best. This is the ideal resort for both winter and summer holidays, where you will have access to ideal snow conditions in winter for both alpine and cross country skiing, and to a wide range of sport and outdoors activities for the summer, including a golf course, hiking paths, cycling, mountain bikes tours, and much more. Ski Area The Gastein Valley has 220 kilometers of outstandingly groomed slopes, with 178 individual pistes. The skiing in centered around Bad Gastein which is linked directly to Bad Hofgastein and by ski bus to Sportgastein and Dorfgastein. The all area has 50 cable cars and ski lifts, and it is one of the larger and most attractive ski areas in the entire province. Bad Gastein itself has 16 lifts which are able to uplift 70.000 skiers and snowboarders per hour. The town is well equipped with 590 snow cannon on 49 Km of pistes and thanks also to the high altitude of 2.700 meters it means that skiing is always guaranteed between late November to mid April. Summer Hiking Discover the breathtaking Gastein mountains: Between alpine pastures and striking mountains, you are about to hike your way to a perfect summer vacation. Numerous cable cars rise into the mountains surrounding Gastein in Austria – putting your hiking adventures in the Hohe Tauern range within arm’s reach. The mountain stations of the Gastein Schlossalm cable car, the Stubnerkogel, Fulseck and Graukogel are perfect starting points for hiking and mountaineering tours. But other cable cars, too, offer countless opportunities for fabulous hikes.

We were a group of four adults and two children. The apartment was well equipped, nicely furnished and very comfortable. Having children with us, the wash room came in very useful, as did the heated ski and boot room. We had the ground floor apartment and one minus point is we had to keep the curtains closed in the bedroom as the walkway went pass the window and people were able to look in.
As a non- skier their was plenty to do during the day. The other three adults had mixed opinions about the skiing and resort, ranging from good to poor.
Another minus point was the climb from the apartment to the ski lift, especially with young children and all the equipment, We ended up booking a taxi daily which added to the cost of the holiday.
Good night- life and restaurants.
Thank you very much for your nice review and for the very nice words of appreciation of our apartment.
We like to take on board comments and suggestion for improvement and in fact with regards to the privacy of the ground floor apartment from this season we have applied a tinted privacy film to the windows overlooking the side walk so that guests can enjoy the apartment without having to close curtains. The bathrooms already had mirror reflective glass from outside so during the day people cannot see anything inside.
We also have an exciting news. The town of Bad Gastein and a number of Hotels nearby will build starting summer 2015 a system of 6 escalators that will move people from down the centre near the waterfall to up the start fo the main gondola. Two escalators will end and start very near CasaNeve which means that our guests will be able to enjoy a comfortable escalator ride up to the gondola and down to the centre.

Stayed here for one week in the beginning of February during a ski holiday with a couple of friends. The booking went smooth. When we arrived at the train station in Bad Gastein the local helper/keyke… More

"Cosy and comfortable apartment in the heart of Bad Gastein"
We enjoyed our holiday at CasaNeve for one week with 5 friends. This was an absolutely fabulous apartment in the centre of Bad Gastein. Everything we needed was there in this cosy and comfortable apartment. In a nice old style building, the apartment had a modern decor, completely equipped kitchen including a washing machine and a coffee maker and is located on a walking distance to the main gondola and shops. The owner and the keyholder were very kind and extremely helpful. Highly recommended apartment, and would definitely stay there again!

"Great Apartment and lovely resort"
Five of us stayed at half term and the apartment was very nice. It's spacious, very comfortable and centrally located for bars/restaurants etc. The walk to the gondola is short (5 mins) - but partly up a steep hill. The skiing was excellent with no queues, countless runs to choose from, particularly for intermediates, and the town itself is very picturesque. If you take your own skis/boots you can leave them overnight at the ski hire shop at the gondola, so you can take the short walk in normal boots and not your ski boots.
Picking up the keys was simple and hassle-free. If I'm being super-fussy, I could add a few minor niggles - but I'm sure only because it was newly available perhaps with a few wrinkles to iron out - the apartment main bedroom needs a wardrobe to hang clothes, and some blinds would be needed if you're having somebody sleep on the sofa-bed in the living area. But having said that, I would thoroughly recommend this apartment - a very nice place in a great resort, which is handy to reach from Salzburg.

"Lovely spacious apartment, great spot, would go back"
We always stay in apartments or chalets when going skiing, and this is one of the best. It has obviously just recently been renovated and to a very high standard. It's really comfortable and spacious inside. It has that perfect mix of being central to everything, but lovely and quiet at night. Really nice place to come back to after a long days skiing. I would recommend the bakery down the road for a daily fresh breakfast.
Other good bits are parking was very convenient (though we didn't need to use it), getting to the main gondola was a doddle, building had it's own ski room with boot heaters (a must nowadays), kitchen had a great coffee machine and was really well kitted out. And wifi as standard (another must). Also, we arrived by train as the manager told us the station was close by, and that was really convenient - quick 15 minute bus from Salzburg airport to Salzburg station and then only a couple of hours to Bad Gastein station, right next to the Gondola.
Bad Gastein is a really nice town and the thermal spas are definitely worth a visit, especially the outdoor heated pool in freezing weather, a real novelty. Food and restaurants are generally good in town and on the mountain.
Finally, skiing in Bad Gastein is really good. Great mix of runs, and there is a huge run all the way to bad hofgastein which is great (be prepared though, it's long). Lot's of variety and options, and we had great snow.

"The most comfortable ski apartment I have ever been to."
What a treat! We chose the apartment based on the photos available on the web as we were looking for a comfortable place with a central location. The apartment turned out to be even better. It's in a beautiful old building restored to the highest standards, and unlike many other places we have been to, our apartment was exceptionally spacious and stylish too. I had the feeling that the owners must be regular skiers as the apartment was well equipped for skiers including heated ski boots racks. We did the short walk to the gondola every day. It was a real plus for me as I hate getting into the car and getting out with lots of stuff on. We were also very close to the local 'thermal bad' for an après-ski treat. We love skiing and the spa in Badgastein, and CasaNeve made our holiday a memorable one! We will definitely be coming back next year.
