"Cozy accommodation with above average facilities"
There was plenty of space in the apartment and once we got used to the facilities we were comfortable enough. Our only concern was the need for a better WIFI reception. We appreciated the effort that had been made to create a well organised apartment and even a welcoming bottle of wine.

Thank you ever so much for taking time to review Tam O'Shanter Cottage - Rhona and I are delighted you had a safe trip home to N.America, after your week with us in Bonnie Scotland.
We are genuinely, dreadfully disappointed, and sorry that your stay was not everything you wished, expected, and indeed deserved. We all work incredibly hard, in this rather manic world of ours, and deserve our vacations to be a haven of enjoyment, and time to "recharge the batteries"- thus our heartfelt apologies.
Tam O'Shanter Cottage is not, and would never wish, nor strive, to be a slick, homogenised , holiday apartment/condominium.It is a unique Historic property situated in the famous Alloway Village, mere feet from World-Famous Scottish Poet, Robert Burns' Birthplace - his little thatched cottage built in 1759 - to which people come, from the world over.
As such when, in 2005,we purchased and,at expense, totally renovated the historic property - such was obviously done, within the restrictions of the Conservation Planners and Historic Scotland. Thus, along with the great privilege of owning, and indeed staying, in such a Historic Property come the little foibles those restrictions bring. The odd little uneveness of the floor.A very small area of discolouration/"mold" on a 200 year old, foot-thick sandstone wall,in an outer-cupboard housing the Boiler and washing-machine. Also should you choose not to dine at the new Breakfast Bar, the requirement to slide a larger table out from under the Super-King Sized 4 Poster Bed - and yes, perhaps give the chairs a little dust.
The "Off White Leather Couches" are actually modern couches but in a yellow vintage-leather(which may have caused a little confusion), in empathy with the property - and in fact had their annual clean a mere 6 weeks before your arrival, where a specialist spends an exhausting(!) entire day cleaning and nourishing the Leather with creams and conditioners.
As a Longhaul Pilot on the Boeing 747, I obviously travel extensively myself staying in myriad properties. Therefore, I fully appreciate that, with the best will in the world, the odd time things do indeed malfunction. What is then critically important is how that is dealt with.
Thus ,when there was a problem with the hot water, within a couple of hours we had an Emergency Engineer on site to repair - and indeed order a brand new Controller, which has now been fitted.I then personally drove to Tam O'Shanter Cottage, unfortunately you were out,and delivered an "Apologies Card" in which I placed £50 for you to have a little meal as a small gesture of thanks/apology for your inconvenience.
My wife,Rhona, has been letting Tam O'Shanter Cottage with great success for 7 years now - one only has to view other Reviews and a burgeoning Visitor Book with heartfelt compliments and thanks - and yes, also the odd grumble about the sunken bath! She also runs our 5 Star Bed and Breakfast, which has a wonderful 100% Rating with Trip Advisor, and Awards for Excellence.
She takes very seriously the experience of our Guests who pay us the ultimate compliment of spending their money to stay with us, and delights in the countless people who return year, after year,to Tam O'Shanter Cottage, often bringing/recommending other friends and family.
Thus please, once again, accept our very genuine apologies that, very sadly, your experience was not everything you, and we,would have hoped.

Had a great stay very central to all amenities the cottage had everything you would need very much as it states home from home... Rhona very kind and helpful..the only thing that wasn`t provided which we could have done with was a shower mat as the shower over the bath was in a difficult position and quite slippy otherwise our stay was great...
