"Coorie Doon" loosely translated means to cuddle-in and that is what we wish for our guests -a warm homely atmosphere where you can relax and unwind after a busy day exploring the surrounding area. There is so much to do from visiting the birthplace of Robert Burns and the adjacent museum to playing a round of golf or exploring the local parks and National Trust estates. There are wonderful walks and a beach to explore and being only 5minutes from the town centre of Ayr retail therapy isn't far away.

Brig-O-Doon House hotel is only 5 minutes walk away and we often have wedding guests who stay with us over the weekend due to the cottage's close proximity to the hotel.

Ayrshire is very well served in terms of outings and entertainment for both children and adults. Whether the weather is fine or not there are places to visit to suit everyone even if the sun doesn't shine!

Ayrshire is a golfer's paradise. Along the coastline there are 15 courses including Open Championship venues such as Royal Troon, Turnberry and Old Prestwick. Other quality links courses include Barassie, Western Gailes, Irvine Bogside and Prestwick St Nicholas.

Ayr Racecourse is only several minutes drive from Coorie Doon cottage and is the premier racecourse in Scotland. It hosts up to 30 meetings a year and is home to the Scottish Grand National and Ayr Gold Cup Festival. Culzean Castle and Country Park is situated on the South Ayrshire coast, 12 miles south of Ayr and incorporates the Castle, Walled Garden, Visitor Centre, Swan Pond, Adventure playground, Deer Park and Fountain Court. This Castle and grounds belong to the National Trust for Scotland.

Heads of Ayr Farm Park, children will love a trip to this attraction situated just ten minutes from Alloway. It is an award winning facility with over 50 species of animals plus quad biking, aerial slides, trampolines and a huge indoor play area for rainy days.

Isle of Arran is one of the most southernly Scottish islands. You can hop on a ferry from Ardrossan and spend the day visiting Brodick Castle, walking, cycling or for the more adventurous, hiking up Goat Fell (2866ft).

Glasgow is Scotland's largest city is only 50 minutes away by train and has some of the best retail shopping in the country. Historically, a visit to Kelvingrove Art Galleries and Museum is a must and there are a plethora of excellent restaurants in and around Merchant City in the heart of the capital.
