The Famagusta District
Famagusta is the main city on the east coast of Cyprus and capital of the district. It lies in a bay between Capes Greco and Eloea, east of Nicosia, it possesses the deapest harbour on the island. To the north of Famagusta are the impressive ruins of Salamis. This once great city is believed to have been founded in the 11th century BC
A coastal path lies along the entire coast from Protaras, into Ayia Napa, past Nissi bay and on towards Ayia Thekla - ideal for walkers and cyclists
Ayia Napa / Nissi Beach area
Ayia Napa/Nissi Beach Area is a great family resort with lots of activities and entertainment for holidaymakers of all ages. This vibrant, cosmopolitan town isn't all about bars and clubs for the young, Ayia Napa is also full of history and tradition: The centre of town is built around a medieval monastery which has been well preserved over the centuries and a visit here is like stepping back in time
Cyprus is renowned for its beaches and the district of Ayia Napa has more 'blue flag' beaches than any other part of the island. The famous 'Nissi Beach' is only a few hundred meteres away
'Waterworld' is the largest themed water park in Europe. Swim and slide among Ancient Greek Gods. The park covers a vast area and is fun for all the family. Only five minutes by car, taxi or bus from your apartment
How to get there
Nissi Bay is 2km west of the centre of Ayia Napa. on the south east side of the island. Approximately 50km from Larnaca Airport.
Cyprus has two main Airports: Larnaca and Paphos. There are flights from most UK Airports: 'Fly Thomas Cook' fly from Newcastle and Stansted. 'Monarch' fly to Paphos from Manchester, Birmingham, Luton and Gatwick, 'Easyjet' fly to Paphos from Manchester and Gatwick and ;Jet2' fly from Leed/Bradford
The road system in Cyprus is very good, (They drive on the left!) so it should take you no longer than 30 minutes from Larnaca and 1.5 hours fromPaphos
