The Limousin / Auvergne / Correze region

Ayen borders the Dordogne and the Correze, two stunning yet contrasting departments in France. The Limousin region is famous for the rearing of high quality cattle, apples and walnuts; the gastronomy of the region is difficult to match! The area has deep settled routes WW2 onwards. The rolling countryside is spectacular and the region has maintained its charm and heritage; Limousin hosts five of the 'Plus Beaux Villages de France'. Whether wishing to relax by the river, walk through the countryside or sunbathe/participate in water sports at the Lac de Causse Lissac, the Region offers it all. Ayen has a farmers market every Thu evening during Jul and Aug in the town centre. This is coupled with local entertainment and a community BBQ. This should not be missed!
