About the home

Comfortable Affordable Stylish two bedroom Marina IV apartment in Isla Canela next to Ayamonte in Costa de la Luz. This modern family friendly gated new marina apartment sleeps 4/6 with cot and high chair hire available. The terrace looks out towards the sea, down to the communal swimming pool and across to the tennis, football and basket ball courts. With all the luxuries and extras this apartment has to offer, it really is a home away from home!

The apartment is two minutes walk to the fantastic seven km of fine sandy beach. Set in the Marina with bars, restaurants, mini super markets, shops and beach bars bicycle hire, water sports, fishing and golf. Isla Canela is a peaceful, under-developed natural conservation island linked by bridge to Ayamonte just inside Spain next to Portugal.

The lounge leads onto the terracotta terrace and this gives the apartment a greater sense of space. The terrace is furnished with a table and four chairs we also a plastic storage box full of beach equipments like buckets and spades and beach mats ect..... . The terrace is overlooking the sea, sports courts and swimming pool. We provide ashtrays for people who wish to smoke - but please only smoke on the terrace.

Bedrooms: Bedroom 1 - with king size bed.
Bedroom 2 - with two twin beds.
Cot with one set of linen /towels and high chair available to hire.
Toddler table and chairs baby bath and changing mat also available free of charge.

The prices shown are for up to 4 people in the apartment per week.
The apartment can sleep up to six people using the queen size sofa bed
Please add an extra £50 per week per person for the fifth and sixth persons using the sofa bed in the lounge to cover the extra cost of the linen, towels, utilities and cleaning. If the cot and high chair is being hired for the extra person then they only have to pay the hire fee.

Kitchen: The kitchen is fully fitted with electric oven / grill and electric hob / microwave / grill / fridge / freezer / dishwasher / toaster / kettle / Coffee peculator / hand blender and fully equipped with everything you will need from corkscrew to measuring jug. Selection of plastic toddler plates bowels beakers and cutlery also provided

Utility Room: The Utility room has the hot water tank plus the washing machine in addition two clothes horses and pegs to dry clothes on the terrace and when everything is clean and dry we have an ironing board and iron if needed.

Living Rooms: Modern lounge /dining room that leads onto the terrace. The glassed topped dining table can seat comfortably six people and when needed will extend to seat 8 to 10 We also have enough crockery, cutlery and glasses for 12 place settings. L shape sofa.

The apartment will be clean ready for your arrival with freshly made beds and towels provided. Mid stay quick clean and change of linen, Welcome pack and airport transfers can all be arrange at an extra cost. Beds have top and bottom sheets plus duvets (summer 4.5 togs, winter 9 togs). 2 pillows per person and bath, hand and beach towels are also provided. Hair dryer provided. If you bring with you hair straighteners or hair curlers please use protection between the dressing table top and the hot irons.

Further details outdoors:
The swimming pool is one minute from the apartment and is open from Easter to end September and has sunbeds provided for you. The concierge works to maintain the swimming pool, gardens and exterior parts of the building. Across the road is the tennis, football and basket ball courts and seven of kilo meters fine sandy beach. Next to the apartment are all the bars restaurants, shops and Marina.

THIS IS A NONE SMOKING APARTMENT Smoking is only allowed on the terrace ashtrays are provided.

Children under the age of 14 have to be supervised around the swimming pool. Swimming pool is available from Easter to end September.

Dogs must be kept on leads at all times in the communal areas and are not allowed around the swimming pool areas.

Please only park on our designated car parking space number 7.

Change over days are flexible through out the year but we prefer during July and August week to week
(See calendar for available dates).

If guests are arriving the same day guests are leaving please vacate apartment by 11.00 hours and if you are arriving you will be able to gain entry into apartment by 16.00 hours local time These times are flexible to accommodate guests and we will be able to let you know the exact time nearer your booking.

Conditions

LINEN AND CLEANING
If you are staying in the apartment for one night to thirteen nights the apartment will be clean and ready for your arrival with beds made up with fresh bed linen a bath towel and hand towel per person as well as a bath mat in each bathroom also two tea towels and an oven glove in the kitchen also a beach towel per person. Quick mid stay clean and a change of linen can be arranged at and extra cost.

If the sofa bed is being used the bedding linen and towels will be found neatly folded in the wardrobe of the second bedroom.

If you are using the cot two blue towels will be left out for the baby/ toddler and no white towels.
There is a toddler table and chairs baby bath and changing mat available free of charge.

If you are staying for two weeks a free quick mid stay clean and change of linen will be provided. Beach towels will only be provided once on a two week stay but they can be placed into the apartment washing machine during your stay at any time you wish to wash them during your holiday. In the summer because we use a top and bottom sheet on the beds the quilt covers are not changed until the end of your stay.

We will email you the date day and time of your quick mid sty clean and change of linen The house keeper has a set of keys to let herself into the apartment to do the quick mid stay clean and change of linen so it is up to you if you are in the apartment or not when the house keeper arrives.

The Costa de la Luz region

With miles of fabulous sandy beaches, water sports, a superb climate and beautiful countryside dotted with white washed towns and ancient villages you can see why the Spanish have kept this region for themselves. Combined with 3,000 hours of sunshine a year and an average annual temperature of 18 degrees centigrade. People who love everything Spanish will adore Isla Canerla / Ayamonte / Costa de la Luz. It is real Spain.

Steeped in history, culture and it's own identity. One of the most fascinating parts of the coost it is close to the border with Portugal and known as the Spanish Algarve because it is part of the Algarve coastline.The region has cities such as Seville, Jerez and Cadiz and the beautiful expanse of the Donana National Park the largest natual reserve in Europe plus pretty towns town like Ayamonte on the Spanish side to visit and across the bridge the whole of the Portuguese Alvgarve a short drive away to explore including the sophisticated port of Villamoura to the little villages of Tavira or the Saturday morning craft Market at Loule.

The Ayamonte / Isla Canela area

Isla Canela is a peaceful, under- developed natural conservation island linked by a bridge to Ayamonte, just inside the Spanish border close to Portugal. It enjoys an exceptional average climate of 20 - 25 degrees with gentle breezes and over 300 days of sunshine throughout the year. Isla Canela has 7 km of fine sandy beaches a cared-for natural setting and an exceptional climate.

The beaches are the perfect place to relax for all ages, sunbeds, water sports and three beach bars serving food and drink are also on the beaches during the Summer season . A heavenly place for walking or jogging and an ideal place to cycle (bikes can be hired from the marina) Sand dunes and palm trees line the promenade before you reach the sand as the government have not allowed building straight onto the beaches. Nearby activities and sports include 18 hole golf course, driving range with putting greens, social club and golf school, bowls center, tennis basketball and football courts are opposite the apartments. There is a harbor, marina, sailing club, and fishing. The marina has a selection of restaurants and bars, as well as two mini supermarkets. Opposite in the fishing village you have a selection of restaurants cooking the catch of the day just for you. The perfect place to come for the perfect get away!

Ayamonte is the nearest town from Isla Canela.You can get a bus from the Island or a Taxi ( cost 8 to 10 euros approx) or drive ( about ten minutes) The best bit about Ayamonte is you have to park on the outside and walk through the cobbled roads and winding streets full of shops (No multiples here). There are cafes Tapas bars and a fabulous indoor food market selling fresh meat, fish and fruit and veg..The area is famous for it's strawberries, and they are fantastic! as is all the food produce sold in this market. There are two squares where there always seems to be some sort of local activity going on either festive or religious. They are the main meeting place for locals and are surrounded by restaurants, cafe, shops and palm trees. There are some very trendy clothes shops for men and women and also great leather shops and a few exceptional shoe shops. There are also shops that sell lovely gits for you to bring back to your home in England.

“Five star holiday” This was our second time at the apartment. The last time being five years ago. Isle Canela is a beautiful unspoilt resort. During our nine days there we heard no more than five English voices, it is very Spanish even in the restaurants they only speak the native tongue. Caroline's apartment is perfect on location, cleanliness and location. We normally rent one of her three apartments each year and will continue to do so. Every little detail is thought of and nothing is too much bother. Thank you Caroline once again.

This place was just perfect for our family (two kids 6 and 10 years old).The apartment is Very clean and nicely decorated. A well equipped kitchen with dishwasher and washing machine. Lots of books and games for kids. We loved the terrace. The pool and the beach are great. In walking distance you will find a couple of nice Spanish restaurants. We will recommend this apartment to friends and family.

Dearest Caroline
We very much enjoyed our stay at your lovely apartment which was home from home. The apartment is in a perfect location and Isla Canela is just beautiful and still so very Spanish which we loved. We actually asked one another if we could change anything what would we change, each one of us said nothing as everything was just perfect.

Our friends were staying at the Verde apartments which was about 15min walk, so we tended to go to there end of the beach during the day and they would walk down to us in the evening. The exercise done us all the world of good.

We did not hire a car in the end as I had forgot my driving license!!!!

Transfers were great plus the stop for shopping.

Caroline thank you so much we really have had a fantastic holiday and already talking about going back next year.

I hope you don't mind but the parasol that was at the apartment was broken so we brought a new one and chucked away the old one and left the new one.

We have rented from the same owner three times but this was the first time to Isla Canela. As with the other apartment everything we needed was there and more! The apartment was very clean and comfortable. The pool was great for our two children (aged 12 and 8) as it was small without a deep end. The sea is no more than 3-4 minutes walk with a fabulous beach. There is a great beach restaurant 5 minutes walk up the beach which played live music and served fresh BBQ fish. There was also a children's entertainment centre that was open till very late. The owner always ensures everything is well organised to make your stay as pleasant as possible. You will not be disappointed with the area or the apartment. Thanks for a great holiday!

My wife,daughter and myself stayed here for two weeks in May 2009.The property is less than an hours drive from Faro Airport and directions which were passed to us were excellent and made finding property easy.There is secure parking but be aware it is a bit tight although when we were there most of the spaces in the complex were empty so no problems.There is lots of street parking with no restrictions.From the car park there is a lift so again no problems with luggage.The complex is very clean and well maintained and only a few minutes walk to beach.The apartment itself is lovely a real home from home with lots of nice touches eg games dvds books etc.The main bedroom is spacious and very comfortable and there is plenty of storage space and lots of clothes hangers. The large bed is very comfortable.The second bedroom is a bit smaller but holds two single beds comfortably.There are two bathrooms in the flat.Throughout the property it is light and airy and air circulates well when patio doors are open.On arrival the property was spotless and the quick mid week clean was thorough.The balcony is quite small and the sun does not reach it very often but you only have to go down one floor to swimming pool if you are a sun worshiper.The arrangements made re keys and deposit are excellent absolutely no problems and deposit refunded very quickly.There are a few restaurants and bars nearby but I would suggest a car is required for property as the town itself is small unless you are there simply for the beach .Seville is accessible and approx a 90 mins drive so you have the chance from this location to see parts of Spain and Portugal. I would gladly recommend this apartment to all people seeking for having relax in comfort and all who love sunbathing.
The place is ideal both for enjoying the sea and beach, but also for excellent sightseeing challenge - close to Portugal, Seville and Rio Tinto.
We were really impressed by the cosines of the apartment, its safety and equipment. Caroline did a fantastic job - she thought about everything one might need: from typical household appliances to nice collection of books, DVDs or games.
The living space is enough for 5 people to feel comfortable. Two bedrooms and two bathrooms are separated from the living area, so the give privacy.
We were very happy to spend a week of our holiday in Caroline's apartment in Isla Canela.
Recommended for: Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, People with Disabilities, Romantic Getaway

Hi Caroline
After a very enjoyable week at your Isla Canela apartment in April, we
returned for a week at the end of August. The apartment is very tastefully
and comfortably furnished and exceptionally well equipped: it is such a good
idea to provide plenty of crockery when a dishwasher is available. We had a
very relaxing time, sitting on the spacious balcony and lounging round the
pool, which although quite small, never got crowded. Ayamonte is a
delightful authentically Spanish town which is pleasant to stroll round.
Seville is a must-see and is only an hour and a half away. It was so easy
to drive into Portugal and interesting to compare and contrast it with
Spain. We found the food in Portugal delicious and good value; it's heaven
for fish-eaters.
The beach at Isla Canela is magnificent; miles and miles of fine sand. We
didn't have a problem with jellyfish and actually swam in the sea. You do
need a parasol in August as there is no shade on the beach and we found the
one in the apartment very useful. We had no trouble at all with mosquitoes
in April nor were they a problem in the apartment in August but we did get
bitten when eating outdoors in the evening so I would definitely recommend
that your guests take good insect repellent and apply it liberally before
going out in the evening.
If you feel more energetic, you can arrange sailing through the Faro Sailing
School (they have a website). My husband did a day's sailing with them and
said it was superb.

DoyouSpain.com.
I think the resort is ideal for young families and couples who don't want to
be surrounded by fellow Brits.
All in all, a very relaxing holiday.

Thanks for your reply, and we certainly will consider going again - and are very glad to recommend you. It’s so great to stay somewhere we know is going to be clean and offer all conveniences, such as dishwasher and washing machine. Your beds were also very comfortable – something we really appreciated on a 2 week stay!!
Whilst we were there we visited Portugal many times and particularly enjoyed going across on the ferry from Ayamonte (mainly because James our 4 year old loved it!), the town was lovely to walk around and we also drove there too and on We may look at doing another week either in the Autumn or early next year.
Thanks for making this trip really easy and friendly; it totally lived up to our expectations – and more.

We can if necessary give a no obligation 24 hour hold on the dates you wish to book to enable you to buy your flights & hire a car knowing you have the apartment reserved.

Prices are based on occupancy of four persons, please add £50 per week per person for the 5th /6th persons to cover the extra cost of the linen, towels, utilities and cleaning. If the cot and high chair are being hired for the extra person then this will ne included in the extra fifth or sixth person fee

Payment is due in full if booking within three months of arrival date.

If booking is more than three months from arrival then please send us the full amount three months before departure.

Please note we are not taking holding deposit or damage deposit. There is one payment three months before booking or at time of booking if you’re departure date is within three months.

If you should incur accidental damage we will relay on your good nature to inform housekeeping and myself of the damage and we can then get it repaired or replaced and settle up with you on your return.

I take payment by internet banking or if you prefer by cheque.

Payment details will be sent at the time of booking.

Booking forms are sent to you once a booking has been confirmed via the internet. Map and directions are emailed to you once booking has been confirmed. We have a house keeper/managing agent in Spain who looks after the apartment any problems she is there to help.

Please note you are responsible to take out your own travel insurance.
