Cool in summer and warm in winter, Los Olivos, the Caseta and the main house Casa Amarilla offer comfortable family accommodation for up to 7 guests. Located on the bank of the river Guadiana affording great views from you bedroom windows across the pool and river to Portugal beyond. As we are in the country well away from main roads there is little road noise and the only passing traffic is the boats on the river. Exotic birds frequent our land and the undisturbed peace and quiet and rolling landscape make it idea for those who wish to escape the rat race and maybe indulge in some painting, walking, writing or simply enjoying the natural beauty of the area . Children of all ages will enjoy the pool whilst those with a few more years have the chance to explore the river by sailing boat-self drive for those with experience and with tuition for those without.

The Costa de la Luz / Huelva Province region

The Costa de la Luz is where the Spanish go on holiday. It has the most fantastic beaches of fine golden sand and in summer the Atlantic is calm and warm for swiming. When the wind blows it is great for kitesurfing. There are many beach bars and places to explore.
Los Olivos is situated about 25 miles inland from the costal strip away from the noisy crowds in a riverside setting on farmland and surrounded by gentle hills.
We are on the Spanish bank of the Guadiana river which flows for over 400 miles from Madrid to the Atlantic. This is a beautiful stretch of unspoiled scenery not yet discovered by tourists and hence has all the advantages of being close to beaches and yet is quiet and peaceful. Great for those wanting a complete rest.

Ayamonte area

Our local village of Sanlucar de Guadiana is a typical 'Pueblo blanco' or white painted village. With only 400 residents it is quiet and low key but still has a number of traditional fiestas through out the year. A large and impressive castle overlooks the village and river and there is a foot ferry service across to our sister village of Alcoutim in Portugal where there are markets and festivals around the year. Ayamonte is our main town about 40 minutes away where there is a market and all the shops bars and restaurants you would wish for. Annualy there is a country fair in one of our local villages San Sylvestre de Guzman and in another, Villablance, an International dance festival at the end of the summer

How to get there

Faro in Portugal is our nearest airport and served by many budget carriers uncluding Easyjet, Monarch, First Choice Thompson Fly, Hapag Lloyd from Germany, Sterling ticket (from Scandinavia) and SATA from Canada. It is also the Algarve base for Air Portugal and other main stream carriers. We are approximately 1 1/2 hours away. Seville in Spain is about 2 hours away and amongst others is served by Ryanair.
From either of these airports it is a simple motroway journey before you arrive at the turnoff into the real countryside of Spain and the last 40 minutes of your journey

Sleeping accommodation is in three rooms that are located in separate houses yet close to each other giving great privacy and still retaining a warm and central feeling. Los Olivos is the main guest house with all facilitiess to make your stay a pleasure. The casetta is alongside but separate and is ideal for children or adults alike. The third bedroom is located under Casa Amarilla our main house, again totally separate and private.

They are all comfortably furnished with full en suite faciltites, clothe storage, chairs and dressing tables. Communal dining is either inside Los Olivos or outside around the pool side barbecue.

All houses have terraces overlooking the garden and swimming pool towards the Guadiana river and Portugal beyond. The grounds and pool are available for all of our guests as well as ourselves. We are several miles from any main road, in Spain, and there are only a few other properties in the vicinity which means total peace and quiet at night and the opportunity to enjoy nature, bird watching, walking, fishing or just simply chilling. For the more adventurous there is the opportunity to try a boat on the river. we can provide canoes, dinghies with oars and motors, fast rib or launch and the chance to ail on a 30 foot cruiser racer. There is expert tuition for all the activities and the chance to self drive for those who have suitable qualifications. Please ask for the try a boat supplement charge.

Further details

The swimming pool is naturaly heated so pretty cool during the early and late season and normally covered from October until April. It is available for the use of all our guests and ourselves but as we keep guest numbers down you could regard it as your own area. The built in cooking area and bar-b-cue is similarly available for your use. All river borne activities take place from our pontoon in the river in front of the property and are available all year round.

Deposit of 75 euros (£50) required on booking. Balance due in euros in cash on arrival.
