This luxury apartment is situated on the Isla Canela, a holiday island on the beautiful Costa de la Luz (also known as the Spanish Algarve) in the SW corner of Spain, very near to the Portuguese border.
The apartment is in an unrivalled position on the fourth floor (yes, there are 2 lifts) of "Los Cisnes" ("The Swans") with superb panoramic views of the wide sandy beach and the Atlantic Ocean. In the grounds there are 2 pools and beautiful landscaped gardens. In 2011 sliding glass screens were added to the large balcony, making it an extra "all weather" room with splendid views.
The apartment itself is luxuriously furnished and comfortable, making it ideal for 2 people wanting a romantic holiday. A folding single bed with proper mattress (not a sofabed) is also available for a young child if needed. With 320 days of sunshine each year, this is perfect for a holiday at any time of year.

* This beautiful apartment is fully equipped for a relaxing, enjoyable holiday at any time of year. Radiators are installed so that even in winter you will always be warm!.
* It is our own holiday apartment, too, which we use at various times throughout the year, so you can be assured that everything you need is provided.
* Although the apartment is designed for 2 people, an "extra" single bed of the folding type, with a proper mattress, is available for a young child if needed.

* Private parking is provided in an undercover, dedicated space - right next to the lift!
* There are two pools, one a large adult pool, the other a children's pool. As is common in Spain, the pools are open from mid-June to mid-September and there is a lifeguard on duty whenever the pool is open.
* There are two tennis courts within the grounds.
* Access to the magnificent beach is through a locked gate - you will be provided with a key.
* A deposit of £100 is required to secure the booking. The balance is payable six weeks prior to your arrival date.
* A security deposit of £100 is payable in advance and retained until after your stay. It will be returned to you within 14 days of your departure when the keys have been returned and our managing agent has confirmed that there have been no breakages or damage.
The Costa de la Luz region
The Costa de la Luz is the area of coastline located at the south-west corner of Spain, next to the border with Portugal. For this reason, it is sometimes called the "Spanish Algarve".
Until recently, it was relatively unknown to holiday makers. It was undeveloped, there were no quality hotels and very little accommodation available. Yet it has fabulous, unspoilt beaches of golden-white sand stretching for miles and backed by sand dunes and pine trees. Inland there are traditional white villages that have changed little in centuries. The nearby border town of Ayamonte is fascinating and lively.
Fortunately, development has been strictly controlled: large areas are protected as National Parks (the largest in Europe, El Coto Donana, is just along the coast); there are no high-rise blocks (they are banned); the Costa de la Luz is like the other Spanish costas used to be 50 years ago!
Because it faces the Atlantic, summer temperatures tend to be less intense than on the Mediterranean coast, yet it is still warm for most of the year. There are 320 days of sunshine every year!
Isla Canela is an island, separated from the mainland by a narrow strip of water and reached by means of a road bridge from the border town of Ayamonte. It is an unspoilt island, most of it protected from development. There is a modern marina with a small commercial centre and a prestigious golf course. Apart from a few high-class hotels, there are a number of modern holiday apartment blocks, though high-rise blocks are strictly banned.
There are four continuous miles of golden-white sandy beaches, most of which are almost deserted. The lively town of Ayamonte has everything you expect from a typical Spanish town: restaurants, bars, shops, two pretty squares where everyone seems to congregate each evening, churches and other historic buildings. There is also another marina!

"Great for a beach holiday"

"Comfortable homely apartment with beautiful sea view"
We stayed from 15/10/11 for two weeks. The first week had glorious sunshine so we borrowed John's deck chairs to use on the beach-only two minutes' walk away. When the weather changed on the second week, from our enclosed spacious balcony, we could see and hear the crashing waves on the beach.
John was very helpful in sending us information about the apartment and area. All the paper work was efficiently and courteously sent and completed. We arrived late on our first night so John sent us easy-to-follow directions to the key pick-up etc. John's agent is Isla Canela was helpful.
The apartment was very comfortable, even having satelite TV and radio. It was well equipped. The only negative is that it hasn't air-conditioning but that wasn't a particular concern for us in October.
The deposit was promptly returned when we arrived home.
We had a very enjoyable stay and it is quite likely that we will return when able.
