The Costa de la Luz / Huelva Province region
The Costa De La Luz or Coast of Light, enjoys over 300 days of sunshine each year with an average temperature of around 20 degrees, making it a perfect holiday destination for beach lovers, golfers or those who simply want to relax and enjoy a quiet break whilst sampling the delights of traditional Spain. This area is renowned for its great food, which includes a broad selection of locally caught seafood, diverse natural splendour and selection of challenging golf courses. Here on the Spanish Algarve there is something to offer the whole family.
Isla Canela is located on the western part of the Andalucian coastline alongside the Atlantic Ocean, close to the estuary of the Guadiana river and the historic Spanish border town of Ayamonte. This is the last stretch of the Spanish coastline before you cross into the Portuguese Algarve, offering a more sedate slice of traditional Spanish life, remaining free from mass tourism.
Ayamonte / Isla Canela area
As well as the brilliant sandy beach Isla Canela offers a selection of quality restaurants and chiringuitos (shack restaurants), it boasts an 18 hole par 72 golf course, a marina complex where you can hire boats, bicycles and surfboards and . The resort is also close to Seville, one of the most beautiful cities in Europe as well as the historic town of Cadiz.
Several protected nature reserves add to the unspoilt feel of this region, most notorious is the Donana National park, a huge expanse of sand dunes, salt flats and marshes. Here there is plenty of birds and wildlife to discover and it offers a number of walks and horse riding-trails.
Ayamonte is a picturesque town with lots of whitewashed houses, tree-lined squares, well-maintained flowerbeds and baroque churches, which still offers the culture and values of traditional Spain. It remains a busy fishing village, with the fishermen selling their daily catch to the many local restaurants. Ayamonte also offers a wide selection of shops, a traditional market and tapas bars and there is a daily ferry service running to the Portuguese town of Vila Real de San Antonio.
Huelva is also worth a visit, as there is a wide variety of larger stores.
How to get there
Isla Canela is within easy reach of two major airports.
Faro in Portugal is approx. 70kms (45 mins). Faro is serviced by many of the low cost airlines such as Jet2, Easyjet, ThomsonFly and Excel. Car hire is available from the airport with many companies offering competitive rates. The drive from Faro is along a scenic motorway and entry into Spain is via a bridge with no border controls. If car hire is not an option then we can arrange for a taxi transfer from the airport and for the return trip.
Seville airport is approx 150kms (1 hour 10 mins). Again car hire is available from this airport
Further down the coast is Jerez airport which is about 2 hours 20 mins travelling distance away.

Further details indoors: This stylish apartment offers one double bedroom with full en-suite bathroom and one twin bedroom with a shower room, sitting room/dining room, fully equipped kitchen, separate utility room with washing machine.
There are two large terraces, one with canopy and there is a generous sized dining table with six chairs and matching sun loungers. It is a perfect space to enjoy breakfast, or evening drinks. Overall, the apartment is furnished to an exceptionally high standard with contemporary furnishings.
There is secure reserved underground car parking, which is controlled by electronic gates and there is a concierge on site every day. The apartment block has its own private swimming pool with sunbeds, tennis courts and play area and is surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens.
There is central heating in the apartment and all windows have blackout blinds as well as mosquito nets. A safety deposit box is also provided.
The apartment offers TV, Satellite TV (showing BBC, ITV, BBC2, C4 etc), DVD (with a selection of DVD’s) and CD player. There is a Play Station with a selection of games and a choice of board games. There are tennis rackets and tennis balls for use on the private tennis courts.
There is a lift to the apartment accessed from the reserved car parking space.
Towels and linen are provided with maid service/linen change once a week.

Changeover day is flexible. Keys/arrangements/directions will be provided in advance of your holiday. The rental cost includes all utility services, bed linen/towels and the maid service, which if your stay extends to two weeks will happen at the end of the first week. No beach towels are provided.
