The Costa de la Luz region
Huelva is a city in southwestern Spain, the capital of the province of Huelva in the region of Andalusia. It is located along the Gulf of Cadiz coast, at the confluence of the Odiel and Tinto rivers. The historic city has a population of 149,410 inhabitants. The city has been inhabited since 3000 BC. The town is home to Recreativo de Huelva, the oldest football club in Spain.
The Ayamonte / Isla Canela area
The nearest town is Ayamonte. (around 10 minutes by car, but public transport is available).
Ayamonte is a traditional, lively Andalucian town, with the centre pedestrianised. It is renowned for its fishing port, beautiful squares and 15th century church. There are many shops, tapas bars and restaurants. The island of Isla Canela has 7km of a spectacular golden sandy beach , luxury apartments, 4* hotels, 18 hole golf course, Marina and a good selection of bars and restaurants.
Isla Canela is a quiet area of outstanding natural beauty, ideally located for a relaxing, restful break with friends and family. There are however lots of activities for the more energetic!

Doñana National Park is a wetland / coastal reserve at the delta of the Guadalquivir River and a major site for migrating birds. The park holds 360 species of birds, in transfer from or to Africa (on the same flyway as Djoudj and Banc d’Arguin). Especially noted are its wintering waterfowl, which number over 500.000.
