A fresh spacious self catering annex for two in a converted barn at 17th Century Park House. Enjoy an open plan bedroom and seating area with views across the Somerset Levels. Within walking distance of two pubs, a restaurant, museum, church, shop, butcher, tea rooms and post office!

The living area upstairs in The Garden Room is simply furnished with comfy leather armchairs to relax in. The sleeping area can be screened by curtains for privacy or opened up to appreciate the beamed space. Downstairs is a shower room, a good size kitchen for cooking up a storm and a lovely dining area in the conservatory over looking the garden.

The living area has a tv and dvd player with a selection of dvds for you to watch. Also a stereo system with CD player and radio.

The kitchen is fitted with ceramic hob, combination microwave/oven/grill, larder fridge, kettle and toaster.

Guests access the garden room through the garden, but unfortunately it is not available for use. However, the house backs onto a large park and the Somerset countryside so there is no need!

We are very happy to share our favourite places to visit, eat and enjoy in the area.

The Somerset region

Axbridge is situated on the edge of the Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and The Somerset Levels. Contrasting yet beautiful areas to explore by foot, bicycle or even horse! Cheddar Gorge is only 5 minutes away by car. The beautiful city of Wells is 10 miles away, and even though it is the smallest city in England there is lots to explore. The UNESCO World Heritage city of Bath can be reached within an hour where you can take the spa waters, enjoy the Georgian architecture or shop till you drop! The City of Bristol is 20 miles away. A very cosmopolitan place home of the famous Clifton Suspension Bridge and annual balloon fiesta, as well as Wallace and Gromit!

You can reach Weston Super Mare for a bit of British seaside in 20 mins from where you can visit the island of Flatholm if you bore of fish and chips, the pier and donkey rides on the extensive beach. The South Devon Coast has a different seaside flavour and is just over An hour south. The North Somerset Coast can be reached by car or even by steam railway on the West Somerset Railway.

Axbridge

Axbridge is a pretty market town with lots of history, many of the properties in the town are of historic importance. You can find out all about it in the town in the Town's museum located in the half timbered King John's Hunting Lodge in the town square, or you could take a self guided walking tour. The square is the hub of much activity in the town hosting the monthly farmers market and other events through out the year like the Blackberry Carnival and Somerset Showcase. The Square is also home to one of the town's two pubs (the other is almost opposite Park House!), a hotel/restaurant, tea shop, general store, butcher and post office. Just off the square you will find the 13th Century Church of St John the Baptist.

If your tire of exploring the town there are many lovely walks close by including round Cheddar reservoir which is on the edge of the town and is designated a Site Of Special Scientific Interest for its bird life. The town is also on the Strawberry Line cycle path, one of the national network of cycle paths across the Uk. The Strawberry Line was once a railway line built between Wells and Yatton to take the strawberries grown on the southern slopes of the Mendips to market. Now it connects Cheddar to Yatton and onwards to the coast if you are keen! There Re various places to rent bikes close by, and a number of tea shops and pubs en route!

This is all before you even get to Cheddar and it's famous Gorge, visit Wookey Hole caves or the Pier at Weston Super Mare!
